Description of Austrian walking holiday
Hit the trail with a superb Austria hiking holiday based in a unique and beautifully designed mountain retreat, located high up in the Austrian Alps, on the edge of the Hohe Taurern National Park, beneath the Groίglockner, the tallest mountain in the country.
The focus on all holidays at this stylish retreat is being 'Relaxingly Active' and this walking holiday is no exception. Expect healthy fresh air, a range of activities, and sumptuous, plant-based cuisine.
You will be situated at 1800m, an excellent position from which to explore the mountains of East Tirol with personalised routes, and daily hikes accompanied by experts on the area. In most cases you'll start your week with a handful of easier hikes, moving on to more challenging ascents later in the week.
Other activities available include rafting, canyoning, rock climbing and even paragliding - all optional and at a supplement. In the afternoons, with the active part of your day over with, relax in the wood-fired hot tub, or with a yoga session in the in house studio that offers spectacular, panoramic views. In good weather, you may also practise yoga outside. And of course - these sessions are designed to be as inclusive as possible, so even if you're a total beginner you're more than welcome to join in.
In the evenings, three-course meals are created by an in house chef, with seasonal menus where the food is organic and sourced as locally as possible. Breakfasts, and freshly baked cakes, follow the same principles.
Mind - body - soul: expect them all to come home thoroughly relaxed.

MoaAlm is situated at 1800m, it is 2km up the mountain from the settlement of Taurer, a fragile environment which it is our goal to protect. We serve plant based, locally sourced organic food, and change our menu with the seasons to ensure we are creating as minimul impact on the environment as possible.
Recycling is also a major part of our waste disposal. We only send one bin bag of waste to landfill each season, and are aiming to reduce our plastic usage this year.
Our water is supplied directly from a mountain spring and our heating system is a brand new 'eco' pellet burning system. The P4 pellet system has won many international quality awards in EU and USA, the most prestigious of all are the Blue Angel and the Austrian Ecolabel. Even in winter our south facing position can also provide supplementary energy from our solar bank.
Natural materials have been used in the construction and renovation of MoaAlm where possible and we have been pleased to find a number of high quality, locally produced materials to use in the refurbishment. The local tradesmen we employ are highly skilled, particularly in mediums of wood, stone and locally-produced felt.

The area also has an excellent ski school and advanced mountain guiding network of instructors that guests may choose to take advantage of. All fresh food and drink will be sourced locally where possible.
We will be employ an international team of full time staff who will receive a generous package of accommodation, food and salary.
