Description of Belize holidays, tailor made
Explore beautiful Belize on a tailor made holiday, spending two weeks discovering jungle and beach, its history and abundant wildlife. Sustainable tourism is growing here, too, and is increasingly contributing to the country’s economic future. It’s also playing an important role in protecting and conserving the country’s many natural resources.
This itinerary can be tailored to your interests and timings, but includes three really unique and fascinating areas of Belize. Spend some time in the Cayo district where you can explore superb Mayan ruins, jungles and caves, and then move on to discover the tropical wildlife of Orange Walk. The perfect way to end your holiday is enjoying the turquoise waters and soft sandy beaches around Ambergris Caye. Throughout, you’ll stay in properties that boast excellent cultural, environmental and ecological credentials and are blazing a trail for responsible tourism in Belize.
The best time to visit Belize is between December and April.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Lamanai Outpost was the most wonderful. Everyone there was so knowledgeable and warm and friendly. Gorgeous sunset & sunrise cruises. The guides had a wealth of knowledge and it was all just wonderful!
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Make sure you have enough mosquito spray if you are visiting in November
and long sleeve tops!
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I hope so. We found the Belizian people very environmentally conscious. As
everywhere there was some plastic on some of the beaches but it’s an endemic problem not just Belize.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A wonderful holiday and a great introduction to Central America.

Black Rock Lodge's passionate commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable operation is evident in every aspect of your stay. The electricity for the beautifully situated, riverfront cabins is supplied by a custom hybrid system consisting of micro-hydro and solar power and they practice energy conservation throughout the Lodge. 100% of water use is supplied by a nearby mountain spring and the Lodge is able to reduce water use through the installation of water conserving appliances. In addition, all of the wastewater is processed through "constructed wetlands" which use plants and natural aerobic bacterial activity to more completely clean the water, leaving no water contamination at all.The waste from Lamanai Outpost is strictly controlled . Waste water is used for irrigation and potable water is treated via double pass reverse osmosis, ultra violet & ozonation. The lodge established, and helps maintain the community solid waste landfill site and they use a small but increasing amount of solar, transitioning over to LED lighting so as to reduce power consumption.
In 1992 the Lamanai Field Research Center was established. Funded by partner and guest contributions, the centre is involved in a variety of research and conservation, outreach and educationally focused programmes on threatened & endangered species such as : Jaguars and large cats, various species of turtles, crocodiles, bats & birds.

Lamanai Outpost lodge is a very small, remotely situated family owned and operated jungle lodge. Many of the staff have been with the lodge for over a decade and although women comprise over 50% of the staff, all of whom are from the local communities of Indian Church, Indian Creek & San Carlos, the lodge is very much an equal opportunity employer.
The local communities provide much of the lodge’s produce and the Indian Church Woman’s group provides all of the staff meals.
The Lamanai Tour Guide Association (LTGA) was founded in 1992 to provide training opportunities to the local community which now boasts over 20 qualified local guides. The association is highly regarded and often partners with the Belize Tourist Board in the running of general and specialized tour guide training courses.
