Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
During the adventure we are of course primarily walking to experience the sights, sounds and smells of this beautiful country, which is a low carbon way to see the islands. All other transport on the islands is provided by local companies, supporting the local economy and our transport is shared by the group.
This adventure includes visiting three of the Canary Islands, all travel between the islands is done by ferry.
We include a guided visit National Park of Las Cañadas del Teide, the Barranco del Infierno nature reserve and the National Park of La Caldera de Taburiente.
Finally, we are very proud to have partnered with Water-To-Go, specialists in personal and expedition water purification, instantly, and on-demand. Their unique, 350L water bottles incorporate advanced filtration technology to convert even the dirtiest water to drinking water as you fill up.
Being able to produce safe drinking water from sources off the beaten track, of sometimes dubious quality, offers incredible benefits to our adventure travellers and eliminates the need for single-use plastic bottles. We subsidise this product to make it more accessible to you.
People
We work directly with a small Spanish operator based in the heart of the Canary Islands, who provides a local guide for our adventures - our clients benefit from their expertise, and they benefit from our employment. We use small, locally run hotels during our adventure rather than larger internationally run chain hotels.
By visiting three of the Canary Islands, we are able to spread our business over three islands rather than just one.
Our Spanish partner has a fabulous network of local contacts who are passionate about developing the right kind of tourism in the Canary Islands, one which supports local communities as well as the environment. For example when in La Gomera our group visits the isolated village of El Cedro, and the village of Agulo in the quieter part of the island. Because our routes take us away from the tourist hot spots and through visiting the occasional small village not on the tourist route, we ensure our trips bring some economical advantages to businesses in areas of the island that lack this opportunity.
Enjoying a local guide on this adventure supports local tourism and helps build positive and sustainable relationships between ourselves and the tourism industry within the areas we visit.
We visit local historical and architectural sites such as Torre del Conde, the Asunción church, the archaeological museum, Casa del Pozo de la Aguada and Casa Bencomo.
