Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
We strive to preserve and protect delicate routes and natural habitats in order to not enhance mass-tourism in remote areas and minimize the effects of our presence in certain areas. .Also in regards to our programmes:
- No use of printed brochures and travel programmes are send digitally, to which travellers are informed why we send programmes digital.
- Re-use of printed paper, but mostly try to work digital as much as possible.
- Clients are informed about lack of water and conservation on the Cape Verde Islands before the programme here and at stay-overs through a responsible travel briefing.
All our programmes are of a selection of small locally owned guesthouses and/or ecolodges. We believe that this benefits the environment as there is less use of space used for the development of these buildings, also these stayovers are mindful of wast use.
- Reducing water usage especially in small rural villages helps keep water use sustainable which is much needed on small Islands. In general at the family guesthouses wastewater leftover water from the kitchen, cleaning, laundry is reused for use in the garden for crops etc.
People
All of the purpose programmes have been created for the community based on the current needs, clients participating on the programme will be informed about social impacts and the responsibility travelers have while staying in a country and leaving it.The Women΄s empowerment programme was created to more in-depth enhance female empowerment on Cape Verde via small gatherings and engangements that still values and respects the cultural surroundings the locals live by. We mainly focus on small group settings through empowerment workshops with female fisherladies and female farmers.
Our programmes are done in small settings as to not overwhelm the community with mass tourism and be aware that these gatherings are an exchange interaction to learn and grow from the local fishery/farming culture as share knowledge.
We also only choosefor small guesthouses/lodges to empower small businesses. To furthermore support local farmers we also pass en routes where we are contribute to small local owned restaurants where most of the ingredients come directly from the farming areas.
