Croatia Ciro bike route tour, Dubrovnik to Mostar
Description of Croatia Ciro bike route tour, Dubrovnik to Mostar
This Ciro Bike Route cycling holiday follows, for the most part, the former Austro-Hungarian railway track from Croatia to Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Opened in 2017, this spectacular route takes you across the border and through some beautiful Balkan countryside.
On this tailor made seven day trip, we give you all the maps and itineraries you need to cycle along the 160km route as well as some recommended diversions off the trail. This is a moderate cycling holiday, covering between 45 – 85 km a day depending on the itinerary you settle on. We have not included bike rental as part of the holiday price because sometimes people like to bring their own, but also because you can choose between renting MTB, hybrid and also electric bikes.
Whichever bike you choose, this unique cycling holiday will take you through some of Croatia and BiH’s most stunning regions, starting with the Konavle Valley which has the Adriatic on one side and Sniježnica mountains on the other. Then crossing over the border into BiH where myriad treats await along the trail, such as the Bjelašnica Mountains, Popovo Polj Valley, the Neretva River and ancient towns such as Blagaj and Mostar. You will be diverted from the railway track from time to time as parts of it are still in use by trains, giving you good reason to explore these other highlights mentioned above. However, we are local experts and cycling aficionados so rest assured that we will create a perfectly adventurous journey for you around both countries’ natural and cultural heritage highlights.

We work with small groups, every area that we visit, stay or have activity is our common heritage, heritage that we use and share with others. With our minimum impact and interventions, our actions to keep them in the same conditions or even better as we have found them, that is our travel philosophy and mostly standard of our travelers. As tour company we try to be carbon neutral and minimize CO2 poluton our vehicles by using public transports (whenever is possible) , low carbon transportation. As active tour company we walk, ride bikes and paddle. Using bikes, walking or pedaling from place to place we minimize pollution and our impact in the wildlife. We encourage our travelers to use and drink tap water or if they have to buy bottled water it is better to use bigger packing and pour water to their own bottles. Small plastic bottles and cans of the soda drinks are very high at list of the trash in the world today. Water is also limited, a source that we have to appreciate and control spending.
Wildlife and ecosystem around us can have benefits or negative impacts, sometimes our behaving can harm wildlife and nature by leaving litter in the sea or beach, taking souvenirs (stones, shells or flowers...) this actions can have very negative consequences to the sea ecosystem, some endemic species and protected areas. We suggest to leave ni traces.
We inform travelers to be very careful with fire and to avoid open fire during summer, if they would like to go on fishing we suggest them to go with some local fishermen, if they go scuba diving we inform them about diving clubs which will take them to underwater archaeological sights which are protected and conserved. During their diving or snorkeling it is not allowed to take away anything from the sea.
