Description of Cuba salsa dance holiday
Our Cuban dance holidays are based in Santiago de Cuba, the second city of the island and the home of traditional Cuban music and dance. The trip includes 30 hours of intensive dance tuition over two weeks and, uniquely, each person on the trip is partnered with their own professional Cuban dance tutors. Our dance holidays have inspired and motivated dancers of all levels from beginner to advanced since 1998, We provide small group tuition with professional Cuban tutors and accompanied nights out to a wide range of music clubs and dance venues, from the world famous Casa de la Trova in the city centre to small local clubs in other neighbourhoods. Santiago has a unique cultural mix including African, Haitian, French and Spanish influences, and its geographical location on the southeast coast of the island means that the city has a relaxed, tropical atmosphere.
Our dance holiday tuition is provided by professional dancers/tutors from the Ballet Folklorico Cutumba, one of Cuba’s top national dance and music companies. There are classes in Salsa, Son, Rueda, Haitian Merengue, Chachacha, Afro-Cuban rumba/salsa fusion and other Caribbean rhythms. Afternoon dance styling, percussion or Spanish classes are also included and cultural visits and homestay accommodation will provide you with a real insight into Cuban life.

We encourage everyone to stay in local homes whilst we are on tour so as to be able to communicate with local people, even at a basic level, and to learn something of local life. All accommodation that we arrange directly benefits locally owned homestays, and we always employ local guides, dancers, musicians and language teachers who are treated well and paid fairly.
We support local Cuban businesses in every aspect of our trips thus contributing directly to the local economy and community, and regularly organise donations for local schools and educational projects.
