Planet
This group trip to Cyprus focuses heavily on hiking. We have planned 3 hikes spaced out throughout the trip with each hike at 4 hours duration. We share ways to reduce our carbon footprint in our packing list by using reusable water bottles, and packing less. Group transportation is provided throughout the trip to get our group into one vehicle for all excursions.We have a dedicated local guide throughout the trip guiding us along the hikes, visits to a UNESCO heritage site, and all other included activities.
Our meals are all sourced locally with a focus on Cypriot food. In addition to ensuring local, fresh, seasonal, and sustainably produced foods in our included meals and restaurant selections, we will participate in a cooking class with a local chef, and a traditional halloumi cheese tasting. These experiences offer another opportunity to enjoy fresh, local, and cultural produced foods. Vegan and vegetarian options will be available throughout the trip.
We will visit our local community partner to learn local about local artisan crafts including lacework and basket weaving.
People
We focus on locally owned suppliers throughout the trip including our boutique hotels, local guides, activity providers, and restaurants. The businesses and restaurants we patron are leaders in their community, providing thoughtful job training and ethical treatment to their staff.As well, we aim to bring our guests away from the areas teeming with large buses and chain hotels into the quieter countryside towns and villages. By staying in towns that are often overlooked, we bring tourism dollars to the businesses that need it.
Our native Cyprus guides who are with us throughout the itinerary will supply unique insight into the history, culture, and character of Cyprus, as will each local vendor we carefully selected. We believe that a sound understanding of the local culture and community is essential to a transformative travel experience, and there is no better way to get that than from hearing through the stories of a local.
