1 Reviews of Egypt and Jordan highlights tour
5 out of 5 stars
Reviewed on 10 Sep 2018 by Harrie Lerman
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
We travelled to Jordan to visit friends so not part of this review.
Our two guides were/are the MOST memorable part of our time in Egypt. They were knowledgeable, fun and were on the spot for anything we needed or anticipated our needs.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
When booking be sure you and the agent are on the same page. IF phone connections are not good do not continue the conversation. It is your holiday NOT the agent's. Flowery words do not make up for lack of communication. The agent is serving you not the other way around.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Tourism is essential to the economy of Egypt. We never felt intimitaded or not safe. A driver and/or the guide was always with us. The hotel and cruise were
very safe. Everyone we encountered were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A trip not to be missed. If possible go when less hot (we travelled in July) but water was always on hand.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Make your holiday to Egypt and Petra unforgettable but not at the expense of the environment or the local people. All tour guides are responsible for ensuring that the guests understand the nature of the environment that they are in and minimise the impact that they may have.Through our environmental responsibility, all historical places visited are to be left as we found them without touching sites and dropping litter, and we always advise guests to conserve the environment and not to smoke at the historical sites. Moreover; our local staff are prevented from smoke during working hours. Moreover, we decided not to use car horns excessively whilst driving (unusual here in the Egyptian streets).
People
We plan tours and holidays in a way which maximizes the opportunity for clients to meet local people and learn about the local culture. We use employees from the local community. Clients can feel that while they are in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and in Jordan. So Sightseeing tours are operated and led by local guides. Also, we use local drivers and all arrangements of tours are made by local staff. We ensure that all of the local people we work with have good working conditions with reasonable working hours, a contract and a fair wage.We choose local restaurants and accommodations to have the benefits remain within the local communities. Clients are kindly asked to respect the culture of the people in Egypt and Jordan and details of our guidelines will be provided on booking. The Tours starts in Cairo, Egypt and clients see the most sights in Cairo and experience local community. Then enjoy another experience in upper Egypt on the Nile Cruise between Aswan and Luxor. After that see the unique experience in Jordan to cover both countries Egypt and Jordan.
Concerning local community, we use locally owned hotels and restaurants and their entire employees are local people. Our visit to Wadi Rum reinforces in the Bedouin community the need to preserve their cultural heritage. Most of the employees are from the Bedouin community and the Jordanian government does its best to keep the Bedouin customs and their culture heritage for the development of tourism in Jordan. The government makes Bedouins aware of that importance.
We offer our clients the chance to visit charitable organisations in Egypt, like Masr Al Mahrusa Baladi. This NGO tries to improve the quality of education in Egypt at governmental schools, especially primary schools, and takes care of genius students at governmental schools. Also, they help to wipe out illiteracy, in addition to bringing up and educating orphans.
During clients’ visit to historical places in Luxor, Aswan and Petra, there is a souk (Bazaar) where they can deal directly with normal local people with the help of our local guides. We send information about the climate, customs, traditions and clothes of Egypt and Petra by e-mail after confirming a guest's reservation.
