Description of Exciting Cuba family holiday, for all ages
As the largest island in the Caribbean, Cuba boasts no end of tropical idylls from where to kick start an exciting family holiday with limestone rock formations, forest covered mountain slopes and a fascinating historical back story providing a great choice of things to do, for all ages.
From peeling pastel paintwork on grand colonial properties to peaceful piazzas from where you can sit and watch the world salsa by, Cuba conjures a charmingly cultural vision of the past with giant classic cars and tiny family run lodgings offering just a couple of reasons for families to get excited.
Although modern Cuba, Havana in particular, is heading to the top of the list for culture seeking holiday makers there are still plenty of authentic, lesser-known, experiences for families to get their teeth into with waterfalls, steam trains and plantation tours adding to a varied and flexible itinerary.
Some of the hill top towns are just so fascinating with chances to go hiking in the Escambray Mountains or snorkelling around Cayo Iguana, near Trinidad, adding to a full choice for all ages to ensure this is one family holiday that ticks all the right boxes.
Cubans love kids and families will always receive a truly hospitable welcome from local people, especially if you’ve got plans to stay overnight in one of the traditional casas that create the perfect introduction to local life both for children and adults alike.
Optional outdoor activities come thick and fast on this two week tailor made tour with horse riding, underground boat rides, ziplines and rainforest walk ways all offering a superb chance for families to get to grips with some of Cuba’s best loved natural landscapes.
From bat-filled caves, teethed with stalactites and stalagmites, to beautiful beaches from where to swim, play or swing in a hammock, Cuba is a fantastic location for families looking to make the most of life outdoors with a tailor made itinerary the best way to include exciting adventures for all.

We always employ local guides and drivers, and all the services we offer in Cuba are operated by local people wherever possible. This not only ensures we maximise income and employment opportunities for local people, but also that we get first hand information on life in Cuba.As our trips are tailor made for individual families, this means that the low level of tourism we promote has a minimal impact on the environment. Our local drivers help travellers to understand their surroundings and minimise any intrusion. Throughout this trip we are in close contact with the people who live here and visit local markets where you get the feel of real Cuban lifestyles.
We operate all of our tours in Cuba in conjunction with a locally owned and run partner that shares our environmental and social values. In general in Cuba we use small locally owned and family run accommodation which has been built and furnished using local materials and is not part of a large international chain of hotels that seem to dominate Cuban tourism.
Our UK office is run as environmentally as possible. The majority of our staff either walk or cycle to work and we operate a primarily paper free environment. We do not produce brochures (which often leads to a lot of waste) but market our tours exclusively on the internet.
People
As with our environmental promise, our local partners are committed to ensuring that tourism brings about positive social change. The money generated by us staying in family-owned casas helps with the upkeep of the property but also provides an invaluable source of income in more remote areas, keeping the money that comes in for the local community rather than going to a huge hotel chain. We also encourage our families to eat in small characterful restaurants which gives a real insight into local life. Visiting these smaller places means that your financial contribution is most welcome and helps keep your visit as personal as possible.
By travelling in Cuba as a family, you not only educate your own children about the country, but also the Cuban children you come into contact with, who may know practically nothing about life outside Cuba. By interacting with local people, you and your children will help to encourage lifelong friendly attitudes and understanding between different cultures.
