Description of Family adventure holiday to France
This family adventure holiday in France is about going back to basics, ditching technology and reconnecting with nature, ourselves and our children. Our base is a luxury eco chalet with a gorgeous swimming pool. It sleeps a maximum of 16 people. All the rooms are ensuite and there is usually enough space for children to have their own rooms, if not we will let you know in advance. The holiday is fully catered with delicious and mostly organic chef prepared vegan or vegetarian meals (meat eaters usually forget this by day 2 as the food is very good!). Our holidays are very communal and within just a day or two, families become like one big unit, often keeping in touch for years and coming back again and again!
Single parent and single child families and grandparents are very welcome. This holiday is ideal for children between 4 and 14 years old, although we often have younger and older siblings here, too. The children are given lots of freedom and the space to be themselves. iPods are replaced by raw and creative play, wild swimming, splashing in waterfalls and unlimited nature!
The eco chalet is in Samoens, one hour from Geneva. It’s an Alpine heritage village, right next to a vast nature reserve and one of the most beautiful regions in France. The spacious eco chalet has a large pool and extensive flat garden perfect for active children! It is walking distance from the two villages, lakes and parks of Morillon and Samoens.
Depending on the ages and interests of everybody staying, we tailor the week to suit the group. Each week always includes four fully organised activity days that are lots of fun! These days are packed with adventures such as hiking to a lake with a high ropes course in the trees and trampolining, white water rafting, guided rock climbing, a hike and swim under waterfalls in an area designated a ‘Wonder of France', and a two-day trek sleeping overnight in a refuge.
There is also an optional yoga class offered each morning before breakfast for an hour. The children are welcome to join in, and surprisingly they often commit for the whole week! This holiday is hosted by the person who founded the original eco-yoga adventure company in the Alps in 2008. She is a Mum, documentary filmmaker and ex-outward bound instructor. She is also a qualified yoga teacher and practitioner of 28 years.
All of our trips are accessible by car and train from the UK. The first 3 guests are offered free local travel in our car. Many people like to have their own car here for independence. If you have to fly, the closest airport is Geneva where you can hire a car for around £180 per week.
Our trips tend to sell out quickly with many repeat bookings, so do get in touch. We will try to recommend the best week for your family with children with compatible ages and interests. We look forward to meeting you and your family!

Hard to narrow this down as we enjoyed it all! Swimming in lakes and under waterfalls, making new friends and seeing our children do the same. The water rafting - was exhilarating but the morning yoga was also wonderful. Read full reviewReviewed on 18 Jan 2017 by Amanda Myerscough
The most memorable was probably the walk to the overnight refuge. Challenging but totally worth it. Memories of my daughter playing in a mountain stream with Mount Blanc as a backdrop; the kids finding a patch of snow to play in; cheese fondue and a beer in the refuge that night. Fantastic, highly recommended. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this holiday. Read full reviewReviewed on 31 Jul 2016 by Elizabeth logan

The principles of our organization are founded on sustainability, personal growth and community. Our holidays seems to magnetically draw like minded people with an interest in these things so there is always a friendly and supportive eco-friendly atmosphere here.We donate up to £1500p.a. to charities and individuals supporting positive global change.
We ensure all of our trips are accessible by train and car from the UK.
On our hikes, we collect any rubbish we see, and we teach 'no impact' travel in the outdoors. We encourage kids to take responsibility, in a fun way, for themselves, for the people around them and for nature.
Our summer food is largely organic, local and wholly vegan or vegetarian but most meat eaters forget this after a few days! We promote healthy eating. We also ask everyone to bring their own refillable water bottles.
We ask our guests to be aware of their electricity and hot water consumption when they are with us.
We recycle and compost. We encourage families to take the train offering free local transport for up to 8 people in the summer and free local travel in the winter Most families self drive and car pool where possible.
Our office only uses green energy.
We recycle in the office and on all of our trips. We encourage all of our local suppliers to be as eco as possible.

We lived in Samoens, The Alps for many years and know the way of life and language of the local people. On this trip we sometimes bring the children to an authentic Savoyard subsistence farm to collect raw milk and meet the farmer and some of the cows! One night we always encourage our guests to experience the local restaurants and cuisine and we suggest the more subsistence and authentic farm restaurants who are maintaining the local culture and traditions to spread the tourism income to those most in need. We also spend the night in a catered refuge, do the ropes course, white water raft and use local guides and companies when possible.
