Family holidays in Europe are simple – for starters, it’s easy to get around. Secondly, there’s just so much to choose from. Spain is much more than buckets, spades and sunshine, and is fantastic for active teenagers who can get stuck into biking, rafting and canyoning; Greece’s irresistible islands sing with wildlife from monk seals and turtles to flapping pelicans; or, if you’re a bit of a pro at travelling with little ones, why not opt for something completely different like exploring the legend of Dracula in Romania, or learning outdoor survival skills in Lapland’s magical wilderness.

Cosy, cool and something completely different, the cave houses of Granada are set amongst natural parks, swirling pools, horse riding trails and gorgeous traditional villages. A visit to a traditional Lappish reindeer farm in Finland is a wonderful way to learn about Lapland’s inimitable nature and culture. Gentle reindeers are pivotal to life in northern Finland, and the herders are always keen to share tales of their daily lives and reindeer husbandry, before taking you on sleigh rides wrapped in warm blankets.

Tips for family holidays in Europe
Katherine Tory, from our partner, Exodus, shares her experience of travelling in Finland with her goddaughter: “I took my goddaughter to Finland during February half-term; crisp fresh air, the call of the wilderness and thrilling winter activities ensued! We discovered this Narnia-like paradise on snowshoes, cross-country skis and by husky sled; we then refuelled on hearty home cooked meals, and stared in amazement at the Northern Lights before cosying down in wooden cabins. We couldn’t have asked for a more fun-filled half-term break."
