Description of Greece cycling holiday, archaeology tour
Beginning in Vytina, one of the most renowned resorts in all of Greece, this Peloponnese self-guided cycling tour takes you across a series of legendary archaeological sites including Mycenae, Epidaurus and the ancient city of Eva with its recently renovated Herodes Atticus mansion. Comprehensive maps, 24-hour-support and convenient luggage transfers between hotels are included, to ensure that your trip runs smoothly, and you can relax and enjoy the ride.
The distances youll travel each day are very forgiving, making this tour suitable for any fitness level, and there will be plenty of opportunities to pause, whether for a dip in the sea, a drink in a rustic fishing village, or a fascinating wander through ancient ruins.
Spend three days in picturesque Nafplio with its narrow streets and beautiful harbour, an excellent base from which to explore the iconic sites of Epidaurus and Mycenae. Cycle through vineyards to reach Mantinea, where you can see the ancient Greek theatre, the surreal church of Saint Fotini, and stop in for a few tasting sessions at traditional wineries. And admire the unique, beautiful stalactites and stalagmites of the Kapsia cave.
Cycling is a fantastic way to experience the rural Greek countryside, meet local people and enjoy the freedom to follow your own instincts. While suggested routes are included, theres nothing to prevent you from taking a detour to visit remote churches, vineyards, olive oil factories or deserted beaches.
This 8-day itinerary finishes in Athens, where you can either transfer immediately to the airport for your flight home, or extend your stay with a few days roaming the sights of the capital such as the Acropolis and Parthenon, and even head out to the islands.

This a great cycling holiday, not too strenuous but enough to make you feel like you have done a good days exercise. The visits to the archaeological sites, the caves, churches, the mountains, the sea and the small towns and villages provide interest along the way. Smelling the orange blossoms as we rode from Astros to Nafplio was memorable. It was very fragrant, and we smelled them pretty much every day for the remainder of the trip. Read full reviewReviewed on 05 Jun 2018 by Sanjiv Dewan

Hard to pick out high points of this holiday because there were no low points. Even the brief and brutal thunderstorms on two occasions did not dampen the spirits (and only dampened cycling kit for a short while). The theatre at Epidavros was spectacular and the experience of staying in Napflio was memorable. Read full reviewReviewed on 01 May 2018 by Greg Liebman
Every day presented something new and memorable. The archaeological aspects, notably at Epidaurus, Mycenae, and Argos, lived up to the epic tales that surround them. Read full reviewReviewed on 01 Jun 2016 by Anne Stevens

Excellent. Good hotels, reasonably priced food, well maintained cycles (The best cycles we have ever hired). The sites of interest on our journey were better and better everyday. The holiday operator Christos was very knowledgeable and took us on a mini tour of The Corinthian Canal on our way back to the airport as a bonus on his own initiative. Choosing our holidays, you choose responsible holidays. As Mr Panagiotopoulos, founder and president of our company, was born and raised here, one of his biggest concerns is to secure that tourism will not affect negatively our area in ecological and socio-cultural way, and also that the locals will mostly benefit from your travel. Our company which is the organizer and operator of this package is local-based and all our guides, drivers and employees are locals too, ensuring not only the economical benefit of our area but also your cultural benefit. In this trip, you will visit so many different places and you will always be surrounded by locals, experiencing the Greek way of living. But the most important thing for us, is that your presence here gives us a strong negotiation card for pressing the local authorities for the development of our area, such us constructing cycling streets in our city or finance and organize better our archaeological museums and sites.
