Description of Greece sailing holiday for families
Enjoy a sailing holiday around the Ionian islands of Greece, taking in beaches, crowd-free archaeological sites, hiking trails and a host of picturesque bays where you can moor up to swim and snorkel. Plus, there are myriad opportunities to indulge in Greek cuisine in harbourside seafood restaurants and tavernas.
A fantastic trip for families and groups of friends, this sailing adventure makes for a relaxed, culturally authentic introduction to some of the most attractive of the Greek islands.
This is the kind of island-hopping experience you can only get with a sailing yacht, and a responsible tour operator dedicated to offering an authentic look at the Ionian islands.
Your friendly, professional skipper will handle all the sailing, but if you’d like to pitch in and learn a few techniques, you’ll be more than welcome to do so. Everything you need is provided, from fresh linen and towels to snorkelling equipment. Just pack your deck shoes, your (reef-friendly) suncream, and your Greek phrasebook to translate menus in the local restaurants.
The yacht carries up to eight passengers, sailing between Kastos, Atokos, Ithaca and Kefalonia. You might moor up to sunbathe on a deserted beach, to soak up the atmosphere at a lively harbour, for a sunset walk, or to explore ancient ruins well off the beaten archaeological track. Depending on your dates, you can also spend time at a local festival for a fantastic introduction to island culture.

Where to start?! I was expecting the beautiful beaches and charming villages, however stopping the boat in the middle of the ocean and swimming in 120m deep dark sapphire water was truly special. This trip was a lifetime highlight. I had high expectations and they were exceeded. Read full reviewReviewed on 30 Aug 2024 by AMANI LESLIE
10/10 Honestly it was genuinely the best family holiday we have ever had. We have never been sailing before and so wasn't sure what to expect. Panos patiently answered all my questions and gave us support before, during and after the trip. Read full reviewReviewed on 22 Aug 2024 by William Tuff
Great with the yacht in full sail. Elias was a great host, offering advice and booking restaurants for us in the busier villages. Also lots of insight into local history and politics, and a good laugh. Read full reviewReviewed on 06 Aug 2024 by Chris Ruark
Excellent hospitality whilst sailing in an exceptionally beautiful part of Greece. Panos and Ilias were patient, considerate and friendly hosts, intent on sharing the best beaches, secret swimming spots and beautiful harbours. They went out of their way to ensure that we had the best experience possible. Read full reviewReviewed on 05 Aug 2024 by Olivia Porcaro

Excellent! We all had a wonderful time... The route was well planned to take in as much as possible in the time we had. The boat was well equipped with plenty of space in the cabins and communal areas. Above all our skipper Paris was so friendly, professional and a mine of information he helped to make the trip so memorable. Read full reviewResponsible Travel

We have been sailing and exploring the marine system of the Ionian Sea since 2009 and have therefore developed knowledge and experience of both the beauty and also the threats. This way we have seen the problems that human activities create to the sea. We have tried and done our best to minimise our impact and reduce our energy demands by sailing as much as possible, using environmental friendly materials, minimise use of single use plastic, minimise waste and use renewable ways to generate electricity. We alert our guests not to disturb the marine life and ecosystems while diving.
Always taking care not to leave litter, be gentle in the way that we collect herbs (e.g. we hand-pick sage or oregan but with care not to hurt the plant so it can continue its cycle).
- We eat local . Almost everything comes from local producers and farms. We use and strongly suggest season products.
- We sail as much as possible and plan trip always to be wind favoured.
- We mainly use solar power from our P/V system.
- We encourage minimal fresh water use for showers and washing. All the loads on board are designed efficintly for low power consumption ( eg. LED bulbs).
- We have a special drinkable water tank (BISPHENOL A FREE / PHTHALATE - FREE ) , carbon filter, and hand pump so we don't use plastic bottles onboard for drinking ( a huge issue on yachting) .
In general sailing life itself consists in low energy consumption way of living . That's the spirit that we want to commune with our guests.
People
We suggest to our guests specific local and family-run restaurants where we have been interacting with the owners and personnel for a long time. Local guides are employed for excursions to visit an archaeological site or for a guided hike or for other aquatic activities or even wine tasting. There is also a specific issue that we highlight to all our guests, which is the sea farms. In our opinion they are extremely difficult to be really sustainable as they use both drugs and fish food with questionable origin. Instead, we suggest eating fresh fish brought in daily by fishermen (we can tell you which types of fish are likely to have been farmed).
The trip is custom and personalised and, therefore, is against a major problem of Greece which is mass tourism. We don’t promote “all-inclusive” packages and do not organise massive flotillas (like many companies that work on the sailing holidays sector).
