Hiking in the Canadian Rockies holiday

Description of Hiking in the Canadian Rockies holiday
Very few countries hold such obvious appeal to hikers as Canada, with its spectacular scenery, amazing wildlife, and national parks lined with well-marked and maintained walking routes. This Canadian Rockies hiking tour visits no fewer than three of those parks: Banff, Jasper and Yoho, takes a spin along the famous Icefields Parkway that links Banff and Jasper, and delivers a host of memorable experiences along the way.
You’ll be walking in a group of up to 12 others and accompanied by a certified hiking guide and a local tour leader. Daily hikes of up to six hours can involve some rough terrain, ascents, and descents, so you’ll want to be in fairly good fitness. A few weekend walks before departure will stand you in good stead.
Bags and tents will be transferred between official campsites while you walk. Groups work together every afternoon to pitch their tents, prepare meals, and wash up afterwards, making for a strong sense of camaraderie from the get-go. A few nights of that, with days on the trail, and getting to know each other around the campfire, and your group will be bonded like glue.
Among the many highlights of this trip are stunning views of alpine lakes, including the famed Lake Louise, an optional gondola ride to the summit of Sulphur Mountain in Banff, and the majestic scenery along the Icefields Parkway. On an optional kayak across Maligne Lake in Jasper, look out for grizzlies, black bears, elk and moose on the shore.
And while you’re here to walk, there is just as much pleasure to be had in the late afternoons after you’ve kicked your boots off and put up the tents. Wander into picturesque Rockies towns to shop for food in local markets for that night’s BBQ dinner, perhaps pausing to enjoy a few beers at a microbrewery. In Calgary, before you set off, you can chow down on an elk burger and take a dip in the hot springs at 1,500m.
But perhaps the biggest treat of all on this Canadian Rockies hiking tour is the moment every morning when you unzip your tent, suck in a deep breath of mountain air, and take in the views.
