The Toraja highlands2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Definitely attend a funeral if you can! Take flip flops and a head torch for the trekking/homestay3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes: local guides with local knowledge. Taken to local places for food. Conscious of plastic but real Problem in Indonesia as the locals aren’t able to understand/ deal with the problem as infrastructure not there.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Outstanding; really really interesting in cultural and wildlife terms. Great organisation by the operator and the local team.David Greenwood review 8 Jan 2024

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Too many! But sunrise at Mount Bromo and the water buffalo market at Rantepao2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Listen to the operator team, they are hands on knowledgable and don’t be afraid to say what you do and don’t like.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Excellent. All our drivers and guides were local, the workers in the hotels were local and there was a huge push not to use bottled water. Our car always had a tank to fill your bottle. We were always encouraged to ‘only take home memories and only leave behind footprints’.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A superbly organised holiday. It was very ‘full-on’ with 11 hotels in 2.5 ..but everything clicked together seamlessly.Read the operator's response here:

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
As an ex-scuba diver, I really enjoyed snorkelling in warm clear seas full of life and beautiful coral.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Get immersed in the culture of very friendly local people. The only disappointment on the whole trip was the visit to Komodo dragons on Rinca Island. We travel extensively to areas of the world where there are wild animals. The very lethargic Komodo dragons were only seen immediately outside the restaurant waiting for scraps - give this a miss.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Local economies were supported by purchasing several mementos. Conservation was keenly observed by resort practices during diving and snorkelling on the coral reefs. Not so sure about inability to see Komodo dragons in their natural habitat.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent. A good balance of culture and snorkelling activities.John Braithwaite review 1 Sep 2018

Try to learn a few words of Indonesian before you go, if only to say good morning and thank you3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, although sometimes the local guides could have been a bit more proactive in helping reduce plastic use.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
