Elephant conservation project in Namibia

Memorable parts? Seeing the elephants up close and personal nearly every day. Tips? Be prepared to work hard. Local benefits? The project is a good one -- building enclosures for water tanks to provide water for livestock. Otherwise the elephants drink the livestock water and the locals shoot the elephants. Overall rating? Yesterday, we completed an evaluation form from the organisation in which I provided detailed information about the administrative problems ... (more)Lois Vander Waerdt

After 50 years of international travel this holiday ranks with the best. I definitely recommend it. Definitely the Okavango Delta. Spitzkopf was spectacular to be in. Travelling through Namibia gave a real feel for the rawness of the country. (more)stephen gapes

There were many memorable moments. Camping in the Okovango Delta was amazing, and the walks around the delta meant that we could get really close to some animals without disturbing them. The sunset cruise on the Chobe River enabled us to see loads of elephants taking baths and they weren't bothered at all by our presence. (more)Tim Gregory

Memorable parts? Flying over Victoria falls on a microlite. This is a paid extra but worth every penny. Tips? 1)Mid-day cruise on the Zambezi at Livingstone waterfront passes along beside the game reserve. We got our best shots of hippos and elephants on this cruise. 2)You've spent a lot of money to get here. So you probably cant afford to do every extra. But if you get the chance to do something you really want to do, DO IT. We flew over Vic Falls on a Microlite. Not cheap but ... (more)Richard Paradine

Memorable parts? Enjoyed quite a few of the activities, met a lot of really nice people and some great coordinators, and so many lovely animals <3 Tips? The uniform can be switched out with neutral-coloured clothes, so bring some - and sturdy sneakers will suffice in the sunshine. The right info is hard to come by, it's a bit disorganized at Naankuse - just ask anyone and go with the flow. Depending on what project you're on and your skills, it's not always real work we put ... (more)Lise Ballangrud
