1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

When Leo found us the Quetzal. What a bird. Looks like a Christmas bauble sat in that tree all shiny and bright. Leo was excited as usual which made it even more magical.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Just do it. Make sure you pack light and sensibly. Take some cotton or linen shirts to cover up in the jungle and be prepared to be bitten my mosquitos even though you may cover head to toe in Deet, it part of the experience. Be prepared for it to be full on but that way you will see everything and never get FOMO.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We felt that we were contributing to the local economy by eating locally and not spending money in your typical tourist traps. We loved the mix of accommodation and restaurants and were always reminded to take reusable bottles when going out for the day. We loved the animal welfare policy of the country and the tour operator and felt that our trip was helping in conserving some of the world's most important and beautiful places.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The best. Leo our guide was the best. Alex our driver was the best. The wildlife and scenery was the best and the Costa Rican people were the best. We felt like we saw so much but was really only a taster into what the country has to offer so we will be back.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Viewing the various birds on feeders alongside the balcony of a cafe

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Check who you are going with - would this impact on the enjoyment of the holiday

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

did wonder about the use of water in the shower/in the hotel pool?

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Going on a holiday alongside couples when you are a singleton does not always work. Should Responsible Travel advise on what the tour company offers before a customer books?

Read the operator's response here:

It’s always possible for you to check with us before you book, if you would like, to see how many solos/couples are booked on a specific departure. We offer small group adventure travel and we deliberately don’t have solos-only departures, as we believe that part of the travel experience is a mix of solos, couples, and friends, united by a desire for authentic experiences.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Memorable - sloths and amazing birds. Exciting - white water rafting.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

To have Alex Alvarez Rohas who we all agreed was the best possible guide - he spotted so much wildlife and took extremely good care of the whole group.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We stayed in locally owned hotels which is good and visited national parks. However, I was shocked to be served drinks with plastic straws in restaurants/bars as they have a terrible impact on wildlife.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

A good combination of activities with excellent wildlife spotting. One or two hotels could have been maintained slightly better but in general were comfortable. Meals included in the trip would have been preferred as it would have helped with overall cash budgeting and we always ate together as a group.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The diversity. So much was packed in - from archaeological site to coffee and banana plantations to volcano rim to tropical and temperate and cloud forests with magnificent flora and fauna. The pace was relaxed, we were never in a hurry. We have wonderful memories of Costa Rica.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Ask for Juan Carlos Rodriguez Espinoza to be your guide and take a good camera. Many companies do the the same route in less days. Don't be tempted by the lower price you will just be rushed from destination to destination without a chance to savour any.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Difficult to answer this. Hopefully tourism is a benefit to local people. We did a lot of air and coach miles and so left a large carbon footprint. We try to be responsible tourist but the world has a dilemma; how do you share your wealth to the benefit of the local communities through tourism and not leave a large carbon footprint.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

A fantastic holiday and we have recommended it to many people.
