Memorable parts?
Seeing traditional crafts still in operation for real and not for visitors visiting remote villages in the north
Tips?
Be wary of ATMs. One took the charge from our account but produced no cash.
Laos is basically a cash economy. US dollars are not helpful in remote areas. You need local currency even though it is difficult to manage the numbers with
about £1=10,000 kip. Refillable water bottle would be useful.

So much that was memorable. Climbing up and down vertiginous uneven stone ascents and rock climbing in caves (sans handrails) on my 72nd birthday
probably the most exciting! (more)Joan Findlay
The scenery and seeing the country away from the usual tourist trail. Following the Mekong gave the theme to the journey through the country and meant we saw different aspects of the country. (more)Robin Hodsdon

Memorable parts?
It was all brilliant. The agents at the operator did a fabulous job from ensuring a suitable person met us at all train stations / airports to picking the most fabulous hotels. We felt well looked after and therefore in a great frame of mind to go out exploring.
Tips?
Don’t have arranged excursions for every day - you will be exhausted. We only had 4 guide led days in our 22 day holiday’ they were all worthwhile and fascinating and diverse but if you had that ... (more)Caroline Young

We loved our time in Laos. Our guide in Laos, Lae, made the trip so great by quickly learning what we liked and didn't like.. We really didn't know much about
Laos before the trip and absolutely fell in love with it.

Memorable parts?
Really difficult to pick one! Sunrise at Wat Phou, boat trip try the konglor cave, sighting the river dolphins and so much more.

Memorable parts?
This is a difficult one, as everyday was different and full of interest. Five of us went on this holiday and the best part for me was the morning view from our homestay balcony in Vietnam. Oh, and the cruise on Halong Bay, eating street food in Hanoi & having a delicious lunch prepared for us in a local home in Battambang.
Tips?
Be prepared to get down with the locals and feel you really get an insight into their lives.

Memorable parts?
The boat trip through the 7km Kong Lor caves (a huge, pitch black natural tunnel in a very remote location) was spectacular. We were the only visitors that day, so had a much different experience from “peak tourist”. Great for us, but less so for owners of the dozens of other parked up boats.
Tips?
Pack light, bulky suitcases & wooden plank jetties to small boats don’t mix. (even if someone else carries) Be prepared for bumpy roads and some long bus journeys. ... (more)Dara Morefield
Memorable parts?
Five days spent in Luang Prabang. So much to see and do. A delightful town.
Tips?
The three hotels we stayed in were fairly basic, but that was the choice of the tour company. There were plenty of other inexpensive hotels to choose from in Vietenne, Vang Vieng and Lang Prabang
Local benefits?
Yes, though we were supplied with so many plastic water bottles though most hotels had large water containers in their lobbies

Memorable parts?
The people, the food, scenery. Seeing Laos from many different perspectives - cities, villages, NGO's and history.
Tips?
The roads and heat make this a challenging bike trip. You really need to be a confident cyclist - preferably with mountain biking experience. the roads are very dusty, with a lot of gravel and pot holes are more like mini craters. There are also some long tough hills, made all the harder with these conditions and the heat. In some areas ... (more)Ellie Roberts
