1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The walks were a particular highlight for us as that was what we had set out to do on our trip. Although challenging at times, the information boards were always clear at the outset of what the walking would be like so we knew what to expect. The guides were very good at walking at our own pace and were extremely knowledgeable about the areas we were walking in. I would definitely like to come back and do more walking on the other numerous routes we spotted.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

The mountains are stunningly beautiful and you will never feel like you have spent enough time in them, so maximize your time there.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Our guides were all local which we thought was particularly good, as they had the local knowledge and we felt that it was benefiting local communities.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

This was an excellent holiday. Beautiful surroundings, lovely people and a great mix of adventure, culture and relaxation in the winter sunshine.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The desert.... at sunset and at sunrise: memorable, beautiful and moving.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Don't over-pack your schedule. Allow breathing-spaces to let the experience sink in.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes: we liked that.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Fabulous! And full of great memories.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The diversity of it all.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Go! But choose a different hotel in Nizwa - it was not up to the standard of the other accommodation on the trip.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We were disappointed by the lack of conservation in place at the turtle reserve and how much (locals) are littering - particularly in the desert.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Fantastic.

Dear Jane, Thanks for your excellent review on your tailor made tour of Oman. We’re glad you had a fantastic time. Oman is very special to us as we have been delivering holidays there since the mid 1980’s and we have watched with interest the impact of tourism and how the locals are trying to respond to it. I am sorry you felt there were no conservation efforts at the turtle reserve as they do pledge to continue working on their initiatives to improve facilities for the turtles. As an example, there are now restrictions on vehicles, all the beaches are cleaned on a daily basis, and picnics etc. should not be allowed in order to protect the birthing area for the turtles. Socially, they also work to improve the community including programmes to educate local children, inviting children to learn about the area, support women’s associations and also employ over 80% of staff from the local area. Sometimes, the efforts can’t easily be observed during a short visit, but we are confident that Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve is an environmentally conscientious facility and mindful of continuous improvement of their conservation efforts in order to protect the animals they love.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Staying at the Turtle Research Centre Carapace Lodge and seeing turtles nesting at dusk and getting up at 5am to see them returning to the sea.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Get the guide to take you to local restaurants. Go to the Opera. If no performance still go to the fabulous building.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes. Using local restaurants and supermarkets and paying entrances to monuments and sanctuaries

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Outstanding

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Visiting some of the interesting sights as we got inside Oman, the forts, the castles, the desert, wadis and swimming in the sinkhole was a fun highlight for me on a hot day!

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Take time to visit the country and consider having enough time to see the main sights but give you time to relax at the end of the day in some of the wonderful locations we stayed in. Tour company were excellent and everything ran to plan without a hitch!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Yes, especially when we were outside Muscat in the desert and Nizwa. The driver was local, we visited a Bedouin family and some of the local villages and souks. The stay in the desert and Nizwa particularly benefited locals and reduced environmental impact in their accommodations.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Great first time visit to Oman - exceeded my expectations!

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The most memorable and the most exciting was being in the desert and being driven very fast through the sand dunes.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

If you can afford it, do stay at the Al Bustan at the beginning and at the end of your trip - it must be one of the most luxurious hotels in the world, with many delightful staff ready to look after your every whim. We felt that the 4 days we spent with the Guide and Driver were sufficient. We wouldn't have wanted it to be any longer. You run out of jokes.................

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

Our holiday certainly put money into the hands of local people. Also they inproved their English skills. I don't particularly feel that we helped to reduce environmental impacts, but by paying to go and see the turtles we certainly supported conservation.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Oman is a "must see" country and I would thoroughly recommend everyone to go. Lovely, wonderful, gentle people, so proud of their heritage and a most beautiful country.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The whole trip was fabulous, we loved every part of the itinerary. The best bits were swimming outdoors in the Wadi Bani Khalid and in the Bimmah sinkhole, and also seeing turtles on the beach at night (we were lucky). The scenery is so beautiful throughout the trip.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Take a torch for the night in the desert and the night walk to see the turtles

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

It supported the conservation of the turtles.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Wonderful
