It was very good - but almost like 2 separate trips. The first part has long drives in the minibus into magnificent countryside. You are immersed in local life more, it is much less touristy and you have some great hikes. The second half in Uzbekistan is for the most part, a more traditional city sites tour with the typical tourist trappings. (more)Judith Taylor
Some great landscapes, especially Kyrgyzstan, some wonderful Islamic architecture, fascinating markets, very friendly people. Need to be aware that there is no single supplement so you will be sharing (unless an odd number) tents, yurts and hostels with one or several people on a
mixed sex basis and varied ages. You will be part of cook groups (on rotation) for breakfast, lunch and dinner when wild camping and you will also take part in truck cleans and possible inventory of food stocks.

Although the whole trip was memorable the highlight has to be the WNG. I would have liked to have been there for the opening ceremony but I did enjoy Kochkor and the feltmaking demo. Too much to see and do and not enough time!!
Tips?
Go with an open mind and go with the flow. Accept the unexpected. Soak up the atmosphere. Take a camera as the views are exceptional. This is a very involved trip giving an insight into the Nomads and Kyrgys peoples

Interaction with local people was good. Difficult to evaluate environmental impact. Use of personal water bottles is a good idea, but drinking water is mainly
supplied in single use plastic bottles. Conservation is probably supported only by the fact that as tourists you bring much needed dollars into the country.
