1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Our 5 day hike on the "great" Great Wall. Wonderful guide accompanied us all the way, supplied us with all the water we needed....... and laughter...... and encouragement when facing those thousands of steps. It was everything we had hoped it would be. Even avoided the crazy crowds! Other memorable bits were the smaller, quaint towns of Shuhe and Lijiang. Then come others like the monastery accommodation half-way up Mt Emei, the view from our place at Halfway House, Tiger Leaping Gorge, the food, (including a special 20th anniversary Peking Duck meal and doll gifts), the panda sanctuary at Chengdu, the 94 degrees Centigrade walk up the Giant Buddha at Leshan. I think you're getting the impression we liked everything!!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
To follow our itinerary and, if you can afford it, opt for the private tour. We had great variety, from the travel options, the different guides and drivers we had and flexibility to go to places where larger groups would not go or see.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Certainly with regard to the places we ate, always more local, smaller restaurants that were frequented mainly by local people. The impact we had in terms of touring was also, we felt, minimal.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent. We need to go back. Xie xie!!Read the operator's response here:

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The walks through the Karst mountains.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Enjoy it, it's one of the best trips I have made in recent years. It's an excellent balance between an active and cultural holiday.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Absolutely; local guides, drivers and hotels were used throughout. Even my payment went straight to china so nothing went outside.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Totally brilliant. We were very lucky in that we were only 2 in the group.Holiday Reviews
