1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
There were so many brilliant moments but I particularly liked Hoi An, despite the rain and of course Halong Bay is beautiful. But the home stay and hearing the owner talk about his experiences after the Vietnam war, for example, was very interesting and moving.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
To be aware that it is quite full on and, depending on the time of year, it can be very humid. Visitors should be willing to embrace the culture and be willing to try something new.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
It supported local people when we ate at their homes or, for example, visited the lady who makes the water puppets. By visiting the wetlands and the bird sanctuary visitors we are financially supporting local people.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
We had a great time and this was completely due to our guide Trang Le who was so passionate and proud of her country and shared so much information about the history of the country with us.John Sacker review 6 May 2023
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
I found the whole trio so good that’s it’s hard to distinguish any one particular moment.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Remember the level of comfort you book. The basix offers what it says but the standards of the tour operator are high and no matter where you stay you can be assured it’s quality, friendly, comfortable and above all safe.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We participated in community activities and learnt about how people live. The tour operator supports local social enterprises and communities by using home stays, educating travellers about how conservation work is ongoing and allowed travellers to contribute to local community business enterprises. The guides reminded us at all times of our environmental responsibilities as well as those of the tour operator.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Top marks. Trio of a lifetime. The guides knowledge, experience and friendly supportive attitude undoubtedly made the trio as good as it was. Excellent!Merlene Nieuwoudt review 10 Mar 2023

Many highlights - the bike ride in Hoi An was spectacular as well as Halong bay overnight cruise and trip to the Mekong!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Read up on the history to better appreciate the War museum, Cu Chi tunnels etc. Also research options for free time - we opted to go to Cham Islands on our free day which was fascinating.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Definitely benefitted local communities eg meals with families to experience family life plys the art and culture visits.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Insightful experience and wonderful adventure with like minded small group.David Mills review 2 Mar 2023

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Hard to choose between Halong Bay and the Mekong Delta trip - both were wonderful.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Consider going back to Hanoi at the end of your trip. I'd love to have revisited Hanoi once I was more in tune with the country (and recovered from jetlag!).3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes - was happy with the efforts taken to ensure that local people and businesses were well treated.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Loved Hoi An. Our guide, Doan was lovely.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The north to south version of the tour is the best route. Hanoi, and to some extent, Hue, can be a bit hard work, with traffic and pollution, but things get better as you move south.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
To some extent4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very good. Some of the hotels were quite basic with limed on no outside space, but we weren’t paying 5* prices, so this is to be expected.Marian Shinn review 2 Jan 2023
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Motor bike ride through Hue. Overnight on Halong Bay. Street food tour Hanoi.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Spend more time in Hanoi at the start of the trip. Take ear plugs for a good night's sleep in Ho Chi Minh City. Add a visit to the Hanoi 'Hilton' prison museum. Visit the Museum of Traditional Medicine and Art Museum in Saigon.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Frequenting local restaurants is good. Avoiding the use of buses in Hue by using motor cycles in Hue and bicycles in Hoi An contributes to reducing carbon footprint.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The tour guide was excellent. Choice of accommodation was good - I would have chosen a hotel quieter street in Ho Chi Minh City.Chira Rosen review 25 Dec 2022

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Our trips to the Ben Tre coconut farm and our cycle tour to meet local families in Hanoi were our favourite parts of the trip.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take lots of toilet paper and a sleeping bag liner if using the overnight train.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We felt that our holiday benefitted local people directly by using local guides and services. Although it is difficult to reduce environmental impacts when travelling, we felt that the operator made every attempt to do so, for example by using public transport, encouraging the use of re- fillable water bottles and discouraging the use of single use plastics wherever possible.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
We had a fantastic trip and would highly recommend it to others!Sue Macdonald review 8 Apr 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Sailing through the Mekong Delta; tasting the multitude of street food in Hanoi; visiting the lovely Hoi An. Touring around on the back of a motorbike in Hue!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be prepared to be on the move and up early each morning! Take food and drink supplies for the overnight train to Hue. Optional tour to the Cu Chi tunnels recommended! If you can, try to arrive the day before the tour starts and then have a few days after the tour ends to relax...ideally on one of the lovely islands!3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes. Good interaction with local people and small businesses...tuk tuk drivers and coconut candy makers in the Mekong Delta; family cooked lunch in Hue; tailor in Hoi An! Water provided in the bus was great as everyone just brings their own refillable bottle.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Great way to see a lot of this lovely country and to meet lots of very welcoming local people. Plenty of opportunities to link in with the group or to do your own thing, whichever suits you best. Our local tour guide, Duy, was brilliant...great fun and really contributed to a great holiday.Sophie Hudson review 5 Apr 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The motorbike tour was absolutely fantastic; our drivers were fun and I always felt safe. The most beautiful part of the trip by far was Hoi An. It is very clean with beautiful shopping streets, high end and cheap (but good) tailors and an incredible beach. The hotels in Hue and Hoi An were stunning and both had a pool.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Bring a thermal keep cup (for hot or cold drinks) and a reusable straw and cutlery. Maybe even a Tupperware box if you have the room. The whole of Vietnam is very disposable and the rubbish problem is very visable in most areas unfortunately. Most coaches used have a big bottle of water you can fill your bottles from.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Trips like the one to the nunnery (with a beautiful vegan lunch) and to see the women making coconut sweets were nice additions to the trip that helped to support locals. Unfortunately a lot of the meals included in the trip came with bottled water and I didn’t feel our holiday was environmentally friendly. We were given a tote bag at the beginning of the trip yet our tour guide did not encourage members to use it when purchasing goods.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The tour was an absolutely great way to see Vietnam in a short period of time. The boat trip in Halong Bay exceeded our expectations of comfort. The night train was an amazing experience but definitely not a comfortable one. The views from the window in the morning more than made up for it though! Our tour guide was lovely and tried her hardest to keep everyone happy. I would definitely recommend this tour but would suggest adding on an additional day in Hanoi to see some sights before meeting the rest of the group.Read the operator's response here:
Hi Sophie, thanks so much for your feedback, we really appreciate you taking the time to let us know how your time with us was. We just wanted to get in touch to address any concerns you had in relation to how you holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation.
In any country where tap water isn’t safe to drink, avoiding bottled water is difficult. In Vietnam, like in many hot countries, it’s long been considered good customer service to provide visitors with chilled water when joining a day trip or sitting down to a meal. This continues to be the case in many places and part of what we do is educating both travellers and suppliers around this problem. We need to be considerate of our suppliers’ wish to be hospitable, while letting them know that traveller values are changing and are happy with alternatives to individual bottles of water. We realise this is a really important issue for our travellers so one small thing we’ve done in Vietnam is to have refillable water available in our private buses and some hotels.
We train our leaders on how to speak about responsible travel, but how they deliver this on trip does vary with each leader’s unique style. We appreciate the feedback that your leader didn’t encourage use of the tote bags and have shared your feedback with their manager for further training and development.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Every day brought another great experience however, the highlight for me was visiting the coconut gardens in the Mekong Delta.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
This holiday was organised very well and was comfortable throughout in terms of accommodation. My only tip would be to bring your own pillow case and sheet for the overnight train journey.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Absolutely. I felt local guides were used and homestay lunches provided. There were always large water containers to refill our bottles. We were encouraged to say no to plastic bags and use a canvas bag. Small steps but important nonetheless.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
5 stars. I absolutely loved the places we visited and was surprised at how good the accommodation was. Our tour guide was brilliant too.Belinda Coole review 20 Oct 2018

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
I'm afraid it was that intangible mix of the group which happened by luck which made holiday, It could have been good without the right people, everything was perfectly timetabled, but the enjoyment was from the singing on the overnight train, the complete bonding we had as a group. Oh and the food was fab, the countryside was fab, the towns... fab... actually all was fab2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Getting to know the country and its culture, meeting local people and learning about their daily life was very interesting and memorable. All the activities: motorbikes, cycling, boats, etc were also very exiting, full of new experiences. The food was always great but the best meal for me was the one we have inside a nunnery.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be curious about the country and its people and ask questions to your guides, they are full of information.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
