1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
We had a brilliant holiday and fantastic memories were made. Our children (9 and 5) enjoyed the freedom of the rural location, access to the pool and playing with the cats. Unusual for us, we arrived with no real plans for our 10-day stay but Fiona & Gareth provided recommendations on activities, day trips, places to eat etc. - hours of advance research would not have resulted in the fabulous holiday that we had.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
We felt that our hire care was essential in order to explore the area and travel to many of the activities / day-trips that we did - but do take care when using google maps as roads on some routes are very narrow (there will always be an alternative that may add a small few miles/kms but is worth taking!)3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes - Gareth & Fiona arranged activities with local operators for us (horse riding, high ropes, kayaking) and also provided recommendations for local places to eat when travelling back from activities. Solar panels are in operation and there is a focus on recycling within rooms and throughout the hotel.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Fantastic - Fiona and Gareth are amazing hosts that want their guests to have an enjoyable stay with them. For example it was our daughter's birthday during our trip and they baked a special cake for her that evening with candles etc - she was so excited. We had a busy and varied holiday, thanks to Fiona & Gareth sharing their knowledge and recommendations with us, doing things like visiting Girona & Besalu; trips to waterpark, medieval ruins & beautiful beaches; horse-riding; high-ropes; kayaking & swimming at lake banyoles; taking the cogwheel train up to Vall de Nuria. The food was really good at the restaurant, the hotel itself had a lovely relaxed atmosphere and we came home refreshed and felt like we had ticked a lot of boxes on our holiday for our family (some history, culture, exploration and activities).Alan Ball review 19 Aug 2023
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Our day trip to Cadaqués2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
The ropes course activity is not worth doing.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
The hotel was off grid so I think that lessened our environmental impact.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The whole thing......being in such a great location we were able to explore lots of different areas inland and along the Costa Brava coast.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
We felt that having a hire car was essential and provided a lot of flexibility for exploring the area and doing actvities.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes. When we were out locally it was clear shop and restaurant owners were aware of the tour operator and spoke highly of the owners. Many of the activities were supporting local businesses or the based in the area around the hotel.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Fantastic from start to finish.Sinead McIntosh review 4 Sep 2022
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Morning yoga every day before breakfast was a wonderful way to start the day. A really special experience having a family riding lesson from a truly wonderful teacher at the local riding school. Swimming in the lake at banyoles. Fabulous day at the high ropes, kayaking and trip to the beach with some other families that were staying. Lovely family run hotel, nothing was too much trouble for them and they offered fantastic advice on health, fitness, wellbeing and our holiday itinerary!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
We went with our 8 and 10 year old children. The cycling to local lakes etc was too much for our youngest so we were limited by what we could do (I didn’t want to hire a car) and had to get the bus. The cycling is infinitely doable for kids that age but be warned that it’s not necessarily going to be considered “fun” for them. Would recommend hiring a car if with a family as the ropes, paintballing and water parks (and other family focused activities) are not within easy reach by bus.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes absolutely. Fiona and Gareth introduced us to local people and companies for everything and all were first rate. They also go above and beyond to reduce environmental impacts with solar panels, high degree of recycling etc.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
We came back relaxed and energised and I absolutely loved it. Fiona and Gareth have put their heart and soul into the hotel and it showed - it’s a very welcoming environment. It is a holiday for those that really enjoy being active.Richard Skinner review 21 Aug 2021
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
It was a superb holiday, hard to pick out the most memorable from a perfect holiday; the gorgeous pool with oranges growing next to it, the excellent food in the restaurant, a day cycling on the green routes, kayaking on Lake Banyoles, tree top adventure day, medieval villages and Roman ruins.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
With boys aged 10 and 13 it was helpful having a car, it enabled us to go to the tree adventure course, Ruins of Empuries on the coast and the dali musuem. All of which were excellent days out. The food in the restaurant was delicious. We had a room with a BBQ outside and that came in very handy over the 2 weeks we were then so we didn't have to eat out all the time. With so many green routes we felt very safe cycling3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, obvious to a casual observer were the solar panels and local fresh food in the restaurant but overall the hotel was just run in a way that benefitted wildlife and the manifestation of this was seeing bats and swifts every night. Rebuilding an old tradition building with thick walls also meant despite the day time temperature being 28 degrees plus the whole 2 weeks we never had to use the fan or air conditioning4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Absolutely brilliant. Fiona and Gareth were fantastic hosts and the rural hotel, with it's pool and excellent restaurant made a perfect base for a 2 week holiday.Gill Glegg review 4 Jun 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
From the moment we were picked up from the airport the holiday was beyond expectation. Everything was perfect, I wanted a horse trekking related holiday in hills and countryside and that is what I got. The trekking was wonderful and professional from horse to Leader, my party was assessed in their riding skill and given an appropriate horse which for myself, being a rider with only a few lessons previous, gave me a confidence boost.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Be descriptive with what you want from your holiday and do not be afraid to ask questions. I feel they get to know you from this.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We were close to a relatively small village and I understand that a lot of people worked away through the week. We frequented the village every day for provisions and lunches at the bar4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
PERFECT! Everything I wanted to happen with this Celebration Holiday happened. Even the weather was good to us and you cannot plan that one!Michael Martinez review 22 Mar 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Kayaking and exploring the caverns of the fortress in Lago De Banyoles were our students favorite times. They were both very different experiences for our students. The Bike tours were ere challenging but doable.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Clear communication between you and the person organizing your trip. We had a couple of ¨bumps¨along the way that could have been avoided if both parties asked more questions for clarity.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I can't honestly say yes or no to this question. I the hosting party was very conscientious and helpful to our needs. I believe its a green hotel business.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
It was okay, Our hosts did a lot on our behalf with a lot of heart. We appreciate there overall concern for us. There were a few things that did not meet our expectations but not anything worth noting. I would give them a 7 out of 10.Saket Priyadarshi review 28 Oct 2018
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Kayaking, the ropes course and zip wire and hanging out with the cats and other guests.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
You should be open to the idea of mixing with your fellow guests in communal spaces and at mealtimes. Kitchen is closed for evening meals a few times a week but plenty of excellent options nearby.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Not sure.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Really enjoyed by all the family despite a week of unsettled weather. The hosts are very attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The rooms were great. The food was good and our 2 vegetarians were accommodated without fuss. The activities we booked worked out great.Melanie Faith review 26 Apr 2018

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Really enjoyed the Via Ferrata2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
None - the hotel is lovely, fabulous pool and Fiona and Gareth couldn't be more helpful3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I think most people staying at at the hotel used local restaurants, tours etc. The environmental impact seems low.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The holiday was terrific. The weather was unseasonably hot but having a pool really helped. There were some local short bike rides (6-10 miles) as well as much longer tours for the more ambitious. There are lots of things to do in the area and because there are cultural visits as well as more adventurous activities it suits families/groups where there are a mix of interests. Cities and beaches not far away either. Definitely plan to go back.Rebecca Fleming review 14 Jul 2017
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The boys loved the Canyoning which we did with two other families and the location was chosen for the age of participants. The others would say the water pArk or the horse riding was the best part.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Having a car gives a lot more flexibility for exploring and having a variety of activities. Mas Pelegri is quite isolated and you would need to rely on bike or walking without a car.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We were impressed at the lack of air conditioning in the hotel and that it was reasonably cool due to the thick walls and shutters. We were also intrigued how a hair drier could be classed as eco.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
We had a fabulous holiday with a great mix of culture in Barcelona then the Dali museum, lots of great activities and relaxing time by the pool. We have already been recommending it to friends we think would enjoy it.Russell Parsonage review 12 Aug 2017
