Just fantastic...you could see the positive impact made on individuals and communities especially in the community homestays. The commitment to no plastic bottles and bags and the use of electric vehicles and local initiatives was very good. (more)Alison Stuart
The whole trip was amazing, with so many fantastic experiences. We really enjoyed the Annapurna trek, in particular the sunrise at Poon Hill. The trekking guide, Yubraj, and porters were good company for our 2 sons (13 and 14) (more)Helen Feeney
The scenic flight in the Himalaya's was a highlight. The Jungle Lodge in Chitwan was fantastic and the kids loved it. Fantastic break - lots of fun and very interesting. Were disappointed by the Haze/pollution and hope to return during a clearer time of year. (more)Angela Ryan

Memorable parts? Waking up before sunrise and getting the amazing mountain views! Tips? Spend sometime on the stair-master before you go. There are lots of stair to climb but the climb is well worth the views you get! Local benefits? Absolutely. Pema, my guide, and I picked up trash along the trail as we went. I saw a lot of the tea houses converted to supplying clean water instead of plastic bottles. Overall rating? I had am amazing experience! I really didn't ... (more)Emily From

Memorable parts? The whole experience of trekking many days with many great views: it really is an immersion in a whole different world! Tips? Pack the essentials only, but there is lots of essential items to take, from sanitation to variety of levels of clothing warmth. So READ ALL the information provided well (it's rather extensive and not as well laid out as it could be, as there are several areas to read, but it's important not to miss things.) Local benefits? I ... (more)Phil Bradford
Nepal holiday on a shoestring
From

Memorable parts? At the end of each day, I could've easily said "that was definitely the best day". Every day of the trip was memorable and exciting; from seeing Everest, to seeing wild rhino and elephant in the jungle. The feeling of being amongst the Nepalese culture and getting a really up close and authentic experience is something I am very grateful to have experienced. Our guide, Ram, was an especially wonderful part of the trip, he taught us a lot and made sure we had a ... (more)Emma Newlyn
Family adventure trek in Nepal
From
US $1,350

Memorable parts? We followed the Poon Hill route. Lovely walking through rhodedendron forests along well paved (but sometimes quite steep) paths Tips? The weather was fairly hazy at this time of year (March) so the views of the high mountains are limited to early morning only. Local benefits? Yes; all the guest houses were locally owned and run and all the staff were local Nepalis. The tracking fees support the very good work of the Annurpurna Conservation ... (more)Susan Johnson

From
US $2,175

Memorable parts? The scenery, visiting base camp and meeting local people Tips? Pack light but be prepared for all eventualities Local benefits? The holiday helped to support local communities and provided work opportunities to local people. There are negative environmental and conservation impacts from mass trekking tourism, however the trip itself helped to minimise impacts e.g. sticking to marked trails, staying in tea houses, not using plastic bottles etc Overall ... Yoga holiday in Nepal

Memorable parts? The two day millennium trek through the villages above Pokhara. The shamanic ritual and the cultural evening of music and dancing was a real joy. We also loved Purna yoga retreat, a beautiful place. We would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in understanding more about yoga and deepening their practice in a friendly and informal way. Tips? Make sure you have lots of small Nepalese notes and ask your guide to help you with tipping appropriately. Expect ... (more)Helen Campbell
Cycling tour in Kathmandu Valley, Nepal
From

Memorable parts? Trekking. Tips? Use only private hire transport (public transport is dangerous). The operator has electric vehicle with long range. Trekking times are for standard tourists - if you fit you will reduce the time a lot. Local benefits? Benefit economy; negative impact on environment. No means of disposing garbage; no local people seem to care whether tourists leave garbage behind. Overall rating? Amazing (more)Barbara Charlton

Memorable parts? The beautiful Himalayan scenery and the friendliness of fellow trekkers and guides. Tips? Make sure you have thick clothes for the day at Base Camp, appropriate medicine for Acute Mountain Sickness, and bring lots of energy snacks. Local benefits? Yes, the trek made a point of minimal environmental impact and had a good reputation as a fair employer for guides and porters. Overall rating? Absolutely fantastic! (more)Alexander Taylor
Kathmandu to Lhasa overland tour, 9 days
From
£742
excluding flights
Memorable parts? The late afternoon clear view of Mt Everest at Everest Base Camp was one of the highlights of this trip, though the stunning scenery along the road from Lhasa right through to Kathmandu has to be a close second. Tips? I'd recommend sitting back and enjoying the experience - everything is done for you. Bring small-denominational cash with you for China - no-one accepts credit cards and even 100RMB notes are too large for many places to accept for smaller ... (more)Michael Pick
Nepal cultural holiday with homestay

Memorable parts? Teaching a class of Nepali 12 year olds. Tips? Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, be prepared to accept and enjoy the concept of difference - and - wear a mask on your long distance flights, wish I had. I would also suggest that you don't try to pack too much into your stay - it's too easy to look at everything, but see nothing, because you can't take it all in. Be careful not to go home with loads of photographs but no memories, Nepal is too ... (more)Deborah English

Nepal small group tour
From

Memorable parts? The day at Chitwan National Park - canoe ride and jungle walk and the airplane ride over Everest Tips? This is quite a gruelling trip, not much time for relaxation so don't expect to come back refreshed!! Local benefits? We certainly contributed to the local economy through use of local guides and non-chain hotels. We tried as far as possible to eat local food. Not sure that we made any contribution whatsoever to reducing environmental impacts - there was ... (more)Allison Bucknell
