1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

It's difficult to pick a favourite out of three countries or the many enjoyable experiences we had in each, but our girls would definitely pick turtles. To round off a perfect trip, on our last evening we were able to help release hatchlings into the sea near Punta Teonoste in Nicaragua just as another spectacular sunset was happening. Earlier in the trip, in El Salvador, we took a boat trip to help catch and tag hawksbill turtles in Jiquilisco Bay. After two sweeps of the net failed to catch any, we got five on the last go, delighting the girls who were able to name the four untagged turtles, who are now burdened with being calling Flippy, Flappy, Snippy and Snappy. The two-hour boat trip across the Gulf of Fonseca from El Salvador to Nicaragua was also a major highlight - wonderful scenery with all the islands, and glorious blue skies.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

It's going to be wet at times, particularly in Panama. We also had some spectacular thunderstorms in El Salvador, but only after sunset. Also El Salvador is well worth including - a very beautiful country that is deservedly finding its way on to the tourist map.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

We had several very enjoyable experiences with local families or co-operatives such as learning about various stages of the chocolate-making progress, indigo dyeing and pottery making. Our visits helped to support those enterprises. The turtle experience in Jiquilisco Bay allowed the conservation team to do an additional sweep for tagging.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

It was excellent in every way - lots of really enjoyable experiences for our group of diverse ages, a really good pace of itinerary with occasional rest days built in, and fascinating countries with so much to see. We also had excellent local guides who were extremely knowledgeable, but were also able to tailor each day to suit our needs.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Laguna de Apoya for calm, volcano sandboarding for an adrenaline rush. Hiking waterfalls, and volcanos

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

First stop Leon, spend at least 2 nights, and 2 days immersing yourself in the warmth and culture. Take time out and do museums to understand their volatile history from prehistoric to current day. After a few days of activities enjoy the tranquility and recharge your batteries at Hotel San Simian, Laguna de Apoya.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?

I hope so, staying in biospheres and nature reserves.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Very good, a little rushed at the start, especially after a long haul flight. We have some great memories and photos. Can't believe we did volcano sandboarding, a lot easier than I first thought!
