Oman holidays
Oman is like waking up in an Arabian Arcadia. Infinitesimal desert dunes, sandstone forts that seque seamlessly into surrounding golden sands, wadis filled with turquoise water that feel like magical sanctuaries when you dive into them, and three seas to choose from for coastal escapism. If you like big spaces and big ideals, Oman holidays & Oman tours are an eye opening and exhilarating experience.

The combination of varied geography (coats, mountains, deserts), welcoming culture, history, and the views. Excellent. When our flight from Khasab to Muscat was cancelled at the last minute (the incoming flight had to return to Muscat), we were initially left stranded at Khasab airport with nowhere to stay, and the prospect of our plans for Muscat being impacted. The local operator tried to be helpful, but when I called host company and left a message (on Saturday afternoon), Jim [the ... (more)David Nussbaum
An extremely good experience in a very friendly and safe country. (more)Alan Key
We had a really wonderful time. Having no expectations as to what was on the agenda, we were surprised all along the way at the beauty of the country, the kindness of the people. (more)Meryl Lloyd
Amazing, the ground agents in Muscat, led by Sajad, were so helpful ,to the point of phoning us on our trip in order to make sure everything was ok. Really impressive! Just like to say a big thank you to Mark from the host company for his passion and enthusiasm about Oman. He “sold it” to us on every level and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would book with them again.

Memorable parts?
I loved Zanzibar - particularly the Columbus Monkeys and Tortoise Sanctuary on Prison Island. Oman’s grand mosque.
Tips?
Ensure flight times do not impinge and decrease your total amount of days spent in each place to really explore
Local benefits?
The trip benefitted local people but was environmentally unfriendly as all excursions were booked as a solo traveller. I had vans and big boats to myself.

Memorable parts?
There were many memorable bits. Watching the turtles return to sea while the sun was rising, sledging down the dunes with my children, swimming in the Wadi's. Not sure I can choose only one.
Tips?
Don't try and squeeze too much into it. There are some lovely hotels and locations but we often found ourselves arriving just at or after sunset and leaving early the next morning.
Local benefits?
We were aware of the conservation side of things but not ... (more)Jane Skinner
Memorable parts?
The Empty Quarter
Tips?
Be prepared for the costs in Oman. I would’ve made a trip to the north and a separate one to the Empty Quarter and the south coast in retrospect. A separate one to the Mussadam Peninsula too. Two weeks wasn’t enough to cover the area so felt a little rushed. Could’ve spent 2 weeks in the Empty Quarter alone.
Local benefits?
Not particularly. Garbage is a problem and plastic abounds. We always refused straws, plastic bags, etc but ... (more)Christine Smith-Collins
Memorable parts?
Spectacular views of canyons, and swimming at Wadi al Shab.
Tips?
Make sure your can cope with the treks: they are hard going so you need
some stamina.
Local benefits?
Mostly the first - supporting/benefitting local people.
Overall rating?
4/5. A good and well organised trip, with a few tweaks would be even better. (more)Mandy Gordon
Should include hike to Wadi Shab for swimming. (more)Lisa Hynes
Everything we saw and experienced was amazing. The route was perfect and every day was well balanced with a mixture of activities and time to rest and absorb the beauty of our surroundings. (more)Diane Few
Really very good, if not excellent. (more)Marianne Gorman
Memorable parts?
Visiting the Oman mountains' area.
Tips?
Friday is the weekend day off... so don't plan your only day in the big city for a Friday, because the main attractions will be closed.
Local benefits?
Yes... in some way.

I would recommend Oman as a nice holiday destination. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to visit also the coastline and the desert, but for sure a destination to repeat. (more)Luis Boavida
