We loved Lucca and the BnB choice, as well as the small group tour of the Chianti region and wine tasting.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Try as much different food as possible, go for local walks, visit the markets, use the train to explore nearby villages, enjoy the beauty and the history of these areas.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, we moved entirely via trains between cities and towns. We stayed in family-owned BnB when possible, and visited a small winery Torcinbencoli.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

As a local agency, we partner with local drivers and guides, as well as with small, locally-owned accommodations. Therefore you directly contributed to the livelihoods of the drivers, guides and accommodation owners/staff within the communities you visited.
In terms of environmental impact, your decision to travel off-season was indeed a proactive measure to lessen the strain of mass tourism on the environment. This choice aligns with our shared goal of promoting sustainable travel practices.
Considering the available days, we did not have the opportunity to suggest visits to lesser-known monuments to support conservation which may be worth considering for future trips.
I hope this provides some insight into the positive impacts of your holiday experience.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
So many highlights as we saw so much - but probably the 3 hour coastal boat trip to see the villages of Cinque Terre and have a couple of ocean swims2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
We had a bespoke trip put together so we could do on our own and not with a group, which suits us. Do not travel in July/ August if you don’t like truck loads of tourists everywhere - was pretty busy in June and would particularly advise going out of season to Amalfi and Capri if you can as they were far too busy for us…3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I think so/ to some degree. Hotels used could do better on not washing all towels each day as is not necessary really4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Excellent and highly recommend the services of the tour operator if you would like a customised trip to Italy curated for you. Great and responsive service, nothing was too much trouble and selected excellent hotels and trips for us.PN Cran review 26 Dec 2023

The nice hotel in capri. So welcoming and helpful staff and beautiful scenery from to room.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
We did not know that in Sorrento from the hotel to marina is 200 yards but it costs £30 on taxi which is ludicrous!!! We ended up taking the luggage down the steep hill ourselves which was a mistake. Same for transport in capri, the luggage doesn’t go to the hotel directly unless you are separated from your luggage which is not something we like to do so ended up taking the luggage ourselves again. I think it would have really helped to have the options of chatting on the phone or through WhatsApp It’s a quicker and easier to ask questions and answers easily. I was so busy I didn’t have a chance to digest the itinerary very well.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes it definitely benefited local people brought money to places we visited and help to keep those people whose work associated with tourist industry going. Otherwise hotels, restaurants and tour guides would not have enough work.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The trip planning and lead up was amazing. Working with Giovanna from the tour operator was hands down the best part of the holiday. When it came to the actual trip... Everything! Rome food tour, the Vatican tour, Capri & Anacapri, the Blue Grotto & Venice. Thank you!!!2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Choose your hotels wisely. Location, proximity to public transport as well as sights and food is very important.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
No, I did not. In my opinion, all tourism supports local people in a small way. But in general, our holiday was a 100% personal gratification.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Hi Paula,
thank you for taking the time to share your holiday experience. We have been planning together this holiday for some time, choosing the hotels, the experiences, etc and I am really glad you had a good time. I can assure you that local people benefited from your holiday: Fabiola, Luigi and ...me, I am a local too! It gets a bit more complicated about the environmental and preservation issues when we are talking about places like Venice, Rome and Capri that have to deal with overtourism.
It was fun organizing together your holiday and I hope to welcome you to Lake Como area next time you come to visit us. A big hug to you and Gary and thank you!
