1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
I went to Malta to see the ancient Neolithic sites of Ggantjia and others. They were an absolute highlight for me. Our guide Chantelle was so knowledgeable and interesting which made all the difference.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Take good walking shoes and layers of clothing and a day back pack. I came from South Africa and was very unsure about what to bring in terms of clothing. Its important because travelling light is essential - i.e. taking the minimum.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Benefitted locals: yes in understanding other cultures and contributing to the local economy reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation: I'm not really sure about this. If it did I was not aware of it.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
I loved it. 10/10. Chantelle was a brilliant guide, the organisation was perfect, Chantelle kept us on track without it being difficult. Timing was good. I can't think of anything I would change. I will definitely do more Responsible Travel/operator trips.Judy Mathias review 30 Jun 2024

Pack light for June onwards - it’s hot. Good hat, plenty of sunscreen & be reasonably fit. Always have plenty of water with you3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Saw little evidenceBenefitted locals in that we had to eat etc When we walked the driver still had to use a vehicle to meet us at the end4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very good - saw a lot of Malta, great insight into the history & way of lifeRead the operator's response here:
Our trip benefits a wide range of people in the islands, from the small hotels we stay in, to the transport providers, restaurants and other small businesses.
Notable are local crafts such as baking, wine making and olive production that we are more than happy to support! The same goes for Sicily (for those combining the two trips). Our trips operate to a strict responsible tourism policy so that we are sure to minimise our impacts on the places we visit.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Seeing the neolithic temples on Gozo and Malta. Would have liked to see more temple sites.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Get a bit of a historical perspective before you go - or take a book. History is fascinating but a lot to take in on the spot. Food samey uninteresting and disappointing in many places - 3 dinners booked by Explore were amazingly good - get your guide to give specific recommendations on the nights you are on your own. Try the local wine!3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Not that much - or at least not that we were made aware of. One very interesting visit to local farm but no time to buy produce.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Very good especially if interested in history and architecture and Catholic religion.Read the operator's response here:
Thank you for taking the time to review your Malta and Gozo Discovery holiday.
We are delighted to hear that you found the temples on Gozo and Malta to have been such highlights whilst on tour.
I am sorry that you felt that the holiday did not benefit local people. We always strive to enrich local businesses and people in the areas we visit and employ local staff and drivers as well as supporting local restaurants and accommodations. I have forwarded your feedback on to the appropriate teams to address with our Local Ground Agent.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
In your free time visit to the underground bunker complex that during the latter stages of WWII became a control center for Operation Husky, and the retaking of Sicily by the allies. See why Malta deserved the George Cross.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
If you need to first arrive in London, there is good reasonable priced accommodation at the Holiday Inn linked to terminal 4. ($130 per night) From there it is only a short walk to the Air Malta departure. Arrive in London a couple of days earlier - take the Piccadilly Line to see sites in London.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Everywhere we went the citizens were gracious. Our spending on lunches and dinners benefitted local restaurants. Also, our boat rides and entry fees supported local employment..4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

ExcellentWe continue to make extra changes to only benefit the environments and countries we visit, Just to highlights for this trip some of those things encase they were not as obvious: This trip makes the most of small, locally owned and run properties, ensuring the communities we visit benefit from tourism. We will continue to develop and be better than yesterday and thank you again for all your feedback

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The ancient history on Malta. Amazingly well constructed and preserved temples older than the pyramids.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don’t expect to relax much! Excellent tour seeing more or less everything there is to see. Good hotels and Lisa, the guide was excellent. As a native of Malta, she had superb knowledge and interest in Malta, Gozo, the culture, life and history which she put over really well. Don’t go in the height of summer of course, it would be too hot to enjoy the sights and too crowded too. End of February into March was excellent though note that the museums were closed until March 1st.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes, we used local guides, hotels and transport. The only impact really was the flight which is rather unavoidable.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
An excellent trip. The small group (14) got on well together. I would never want to do such a holiday with a large coach load. I think I got a real flavour of the islands.Mary Dottie Moon review 30 Oct 2022

I contacted the operator many times as confirmation of my booking request was very slow. That said, the location was ideal and our guide Rocio was really good at catering for different abilities.Stephanie Hold review 1 Apr 2019
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Hard to choose, I would have to say discovering beautiful Gozo and having beautiful lunches by the sea.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
It can get quite windy, so make sure to bring something to deal with that possibility.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We did go and visit a local farmer, but I got the impression only one of the two hotels were helping a local business. The second one on the island of Malta was quite standard, and they insisted on changing towels every day (no signs to say how one could avoid doing that). I would also recommend that they invest in liquid soap dispensers in the bathroom, instead of having individual packets of liquid soap (which can create a lot of garbage).4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A beautiful trip with enough time to visit a lot of what the island has to offer, all while having some alone time if wanted.Ricky Northcott review 22 Sep 2019

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Walking through the beautiful Sierra de Arcena.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
It's a full on trip, although this is made clear in the trip notes. That suited us down to the ground as we were keen to see and experience as much as possible during our visit.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
We travelled with a local (who is clearly passionate about the region); stayed in a small village (thus contributing to its economy); used public transport; and minimised plastic waste by drinking tap water throughout the trip.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Fantastic trip that packs lots in and really gives you a feel for the region. I recommend it to anyone who wants to get to know the history and culture of Andalucia.Rosie Ritchie review 31 May 2018

Thank you for your feedback. The benefits of choosing this tour is that we work with a local operator and have a local Tour Leader to escort us who will be able to explain all about the history and culture, as well as local life on the islands. This makes our experience that much richer than travelling independently as we’ll be able to uncover all sorts of aspects of the islands not accessible to most visitors. Our trip also benefits a wide range of people in the islands, from the small hotels we stay in, to the transport providers, restaurants and other small businesses.
