1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
There are SO many things to choose from but the number 1 was staying in chilled out a Caye Caulker and taking the boat trip with Ragga Sailing Adventures - we did a lot of other snorkelling trips with other companies but they were the best by far. Knowledgable, friendly and helpful guides, actually educated us on the marine life (not just pointing out fish) and we’re incredibly respectful and protective of the reef and environment. Can’t recommend them and the island more for a laid back (no room for pretentious people here) escape to the sea after an adventure on the mainland .2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Def drive is super easy, no need for a guide (we managed to navigate the whole country without our google maps even working .If your pushed for time, give Belize City a miss. Try the fried jacks and Belizean breakfasts!!Definitely stay at Black Rock Lodge near San Ignacio, it’s a very special place set in the trees far from the hustle and bustle and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Everything and everywhere is way more expensive than you’d expect!!!3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Absolutely in terms of conservation It was less apparent about how it benefitted local people or reduced environmental impacts, probably because we moved around a fair amount and didn’t see one place for too long4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Absolutely incredible. We had the most wonderful family adventure. I could have organised a similar trip myself if I’d had the time to research and plan it but I cannot fault the team (U.K. and local travel agents) for their help, flexibility and organising exactly what I asked for -Donald Ferns review 15 Apr 2024
1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Snorkelling on the reef off Caye Caulker.2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Mundo Maya representative did not turn up at Belize City water taxi terminal for the shuttle to Mexico. Go into the Marlin Espardas office (near baggage reclaim) and they will check you onto the correct shuttle. There was extensive building work being done in Merida and Campeche which may put some people off. The travel time from Flores to Tikal in almost 2hrs (not 1) and the return shuttle time is set by the time of your shuttle to get there - you have no choice. The no plastic bottles rule in Tulum site is strictly enforced. You also need 2 tickets collected from different offices to get into the site. The local shuttles in Tulum are very easy to use and much cheaper that the local taxis.3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Use of local hotels and suppliers (rather than international chains) gave increased local benefit. Use of ADO bus service and collective shuttles reduced environmental impact compared with private transfers. Visits to sites provided both incentive for their conservation and funds to conserve them with. We have some concerns that some of the hotels did not provide drinking water dispensers to refill reusable bottles from and increased use of plastic bottles - it's very hot and so you need a lot of drinking water.4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
