1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Probably Khiva, wandering it ourselves having had a tour the day before and finding a trapeze show before a lovely dinner on a terrace with a view of the town.... being invited up to dance after dinner in a restaurant by super friendly diners celebrating in samarkand and then bumping into one of them the next day at their stall in the bazaar2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Learn a few phrases, it's really appreciated. Make sure you like history, if you don't this probably isn't the trip for you - also as the notes say this isn't an activity based holiday3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Hmm I'm not sure, in bukhara for sure if you bought the hand crafted items. I felt it definitely provided lots of interactions with local people at both where you could eat and spend your free time4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
I really liked it but maybe be aware of the age profile of travelers in Uzbekistan, it's much older than I expected. Also there's lots of free time on this trip, I thought it was perfect and really have time to explore ourselves but if you were there solo maybe you would find it a bit muchHoliday Reviews
