Azerbaijan holidays
Part of the Silk Road magical trail that took traders to its booming capital Baku on the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan keeps you on your toes. The cities are financed by oil money, while traditional Caucasus mountain villagers still draw water from mountain springs. Artisan silk and copper workers still exist in a country that has a booming financial sector. Ancient Persian architecture is juxtaposed with Soviet structures. Azerbaijan holidays & Azerbaijan tours certainly take you on a cultural whirlwind.

It was a little too rushed, an extra day in each main city would have been better. The 3 guides we had were exceptionally good, especially Sophie in Georgia & Raffi in Armenia who had an enormous knowledge of history & culture. (more)Chloe Dutton

The most exciting part of the holiday was probably visiting the highest village in Europe, and the incredible scenery on the way.

The whole trip was memorable, but especially the visits to the three mountain villages...Kish, Lahic and Xinolic. It was very exciting to see seven Caucasian Golden Eagle soaring quite close to us.

Azerbaijan is a great country and this trip definitely picked the highlights! I loved Baku, it is a great city with all the benefits of modern development including some stunning modern architecture, but also some beautiful historic buildings in the medieval walled city, and in the centre of town which has some amazing early 20c mansions built by the first Russian oil barons. We started walking through the fortified town of Sighnaghi in Georgia and were sidetracked by the sound of music coming from the main square. It turned out that it was a national holiday, and a series of youth groups in splendid costumes were doing traditional dances on a stage in the square... (more)Paula Lozar
