Bosnia-Herzegovina holidays

One of Europe’s euro-stars that is beginning to glisten as brightly as neighbouring countries when it comes to hiking & cycling holidays. Such as Una National Park with the eponymous river that carves canyons & other rambling treats, or Sutjeska NP, with the country’s highest peak, Magli?. Bosnia-Herzegovina holidays & Bosnia tours are also packed with cultural gems, and trips to Sarajevo take you back not only to fine ancient civilisations but show off fine contemporary ones too.

Walking holiday in Bosnia Herzegovina

Memorable parts? Climbing Maglic was the best part of the holiday. The scenery/views are stunning and the climb has a good mix of walking and scrambling. The lake towards the end is also beautiful, and an excellent place to have a beer. Tips? The first two hotels are basic. They're clean and comfortable but don't have expectations too high. The museums in Sarajevo are really interesting, although quite harrowing, and I'd recommend the cable car in Sarajevo for fantastic ... (more)Tom Macklin

Memorable parts? The amazing scenery in Bosnia and Herzegovena. Tips? The driving can be a little scary at times, plan in plenty of time to take the journeys slowly. Local benefits? Yes, we stayed in independent hotels and ate in local restaurants. Overall rating? One of the best - we are planning to go again and stay for longer. (more)Helen El-Hoss

Loved the variety of scenery and historical places,. The tour operator was excellent, went out of their way to help you before and after the trip. The accommodation was all great with good breakfasts in most to get you going. Because of the heat we started earlier than on the programe which worked well. (more)Jill Ford

Memorable parts? Really very difficult to say as the itinerary was superb. It probably has to be Gobekli Tepe which is just out of this world, though the city of Mardin was lovely. and Sumela Monastery even outshone the Tiger's Nest in Bhutan (and was a lot easier to get to!). Tips? Be prepared to have your prejudices and pre-conceived ideas about the arid desert of eastern Turkey completely blown away. Do make the decision to spend a lot of money on a hand woven silk rug, you ... (more)Carl Atkinson

Memorable parts? Seeing some of the most beautiful paintings in the monasteries and gaining a greater understanding of the politics and religion of the region. Tips? Not to overload your luggage as not all hotels had lifts. Depending on when you go pack for all weathers - we went from sleet and snow in the mountains of Montenegro to 30 degrees in Dubrovnik. Local benefits? We ate in local restaurants. Overall rating? It was a very interesting and enjoyable ... (more)Catherine Rowland

Memorable parts? Montenegro - stunning scenery, and we were lucky enough to have a fortnight of wonderful weather Tips? Be very wary of taking a taxi in Budapest! Our pre booked taxi to meet us at the airport did arrive (but with different company & driver!), but for two others on the trip their pre booked taxis never turned up. Advice seems to be to use public transport. Local benefits? We used local guides, with great knowledge of the area and its somewhat troubled ... (more)Sara Warren
