Learn to ski and yoga holiday in Austria
Description of Learn to ski and yoga holiday in Austria
It’s never too late to learn to ski. In the spirit of taking people back to their youth, losing their inhibitions and trying out something new, our remote mountain retreat will be hosting a special week this winter for adults who want to learn to ski for the first time.
SKI INSTRUCTION:
You will receive five days of ski instruction with an English speaking instructor. On day one you will start with the basics and we expect by day five you will be confident enough to tackle some of the harder slopes. You will have great fun with a group of like minded people, spending your day laughing and enjoying the stunning mountain views.
YOGA:
Learning to ski inevitably results in a few falls. Therefore our daily yoga classes will be designed to help you stretch out those sore muscles. We also have a wood fired hot tub, where at the end of a challenging day, you can sit back relax and soak.
FOOD:
We are passionate about healthy living and reducing our impact on the environment. Therefore included in your holiday are six three course evening meals which are entirely plant based. Our in house chef creates seasonal menus and our food is organic and as locally sourced as possible. We also offer a delicious, organic breakfast and freshly baked cakes with organic tea and coffee on a daily basis.
ABOUT THE AREA
We are situated on the edge of the Hohe Tauren National Park underneath Austria's highest mountain, Großglockner. This means we have a unique opportunity to spot rare wildlife such as Ibex on an almost daily basis. Our local guide is extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna around MoaAlm and will be able to tell you about the unique Alpine species you will see. Our local village Kals is still a traditional Alpine village, where many of the residents graze animals on the high alpine pastures.
Our remote mountain retreat was recently featured in The Guardian, in a list of 'mind, body and spirit breaks'.

Our accommodation, MoaAlm is situated at 1800m, it is 2km up the mountain from the settlement of Taurer. MoaAlm is only accessible with our own vehicle or by foot/snowshoe or ski. We will provide pick up and drop off on arrival/departure to your vehicle or your airport transfer in Lienz. Daily transport will involve a combination of snowshoe, ski and toboggan - far more suited to our goal of enjoying and preserving the natural beauty of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Some days may involve carrying a picnic on a hike or ski touring trip - guests will be actively involved in carrying out waste. Our water is supplied directly from a mountain spring and our heating system is a brand new 'eco' pellet burning system. The P4 pellet system has won many international quality awards in EU and USA, the most prestigious of all are the Blue Angel and the Austrian Ecolabel. Even in winter our south facing position can also provide supplementary energy from our solar bank.
Given our surroundings, we are very conscious of the need to preserve natural beauty and heat as efficiently, and sustainably, as possible. Even in winter our south facing position can also provide supplementary energy from our solar bank.

Opportunities will be also be available through our staff incentive scheme to participate in training courses annually. This scheme is in place to encourage staff to make this a rewarding full time lifestyle choice that can be sustainable rather than just a seasonal short term option.
