Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
CARBON REDUCTIONWe are committed to reducing the operational carbon emissions of your trip by promoting sustainable and eco-friendly travel options. To minimize our carbon footprint, we prioritize the use of human-powered transport. During this trip, walking will be the primary mode of exploration, allowing you to enjoy the stunning landscapes of the Curonian Spit for several days while significantly reducing your carbon emissions and immersing the magnificent views while walking at your own pace.
Additionally, shared local transport options are utilized whenever necessary, including buses and trains, to further decrease CO2 emissions per person. In case you would like to us to arrange your travel from Vilnius, let us know and we will offer the best available options.
We also advise our customers on how to reduce the carbon impacts of their holiday. By choosing walking as a primary travel option, and by opting for locally-sourced, seasonal foods, you can make a positive impact on the environment. Vegetarian and vegan food options are available throughout the trip, further contributing to carbon reduction.
Walking route notes and maps will be provided in the gpx format that you can view on your smart phone or any compatible device. We do not provide any printed materials and encourage our guests not to print them.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
The Curonian Spit, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a fragile ecosystem that requires careful preservation. To protect the environment and wildlife, we have established special paths for travelers and cyclists, ensuring that visitors can experience the breathtaking nature without disturbing the delicate balance of the ecosystem. A key example is the Nagliai Dune and nature reserve in Nida, where paths have been created to prevent damage from over-tourism, safeguarding the dunes and the wildlife that inhabit them.
Our commitment to environmental preservation extends to working with local communities. We collaborate with local transport providers who consolidate trips to minimize unnecessary car rides, thus reducing the environmental impact on the region. This approach not only supports the local economy but also helps in protecting the natural habitats and wildlife that make the Curonian Spit so unique.
