Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

This itinerary includes overland travel for the most part excluding the need for domestic flights and cutting down on Carbon emissions. Public transport has also been incorporated into this itinerary and includes a train journey from Woodlands station in Singapore into Malaysia to Tampin.

From here we recommend taking a taxi to Malacca as it is more cost effective and fuel efficient than having a private car come from Kuala Lumpur or Malacca.

Where it is possible to make the most of your time we have included walking tours rather than tours with a vehicle. This way it cuts down on the fuel emissions and you can also get to grips with the local public transport systems too.

Blue Mansion in Penang has been faithfully restored to its former glory. It has a responsible attitude towards the environment and has limited facilities as a result. The Majestic in Kuala Lumpur is part of the YTL hotel group who are committed to developing sustainable practices at all of their hotels. Using the tagline ‘Make a good future happen’ the hotel group aims to achieve sustainability throughout its business.

People

At the Blue Mansion in Penang you are encouraged to sample the fabulous local food at nearby restaurants as the mansion is only equipped to provide guests with breakfast, thus helping to support other businesses.

Our local partners employ local chauffeur-guides and have a passion for their homeland and a desire to share their cultural heritage with visitors. Using local guides provides employment opportunities.

The Majestic in Kuala Lumpur is part of the YTL hotel group. YTL are committed to developing sustainable practices at all of their hotels. Using the tagline ‘Make a good future happen’ the hotel group aims to achieve sustainability in the marketplace, environment and with its people and the surrounding communities.

The hotel group are also very proud to have won a number of awards further promoting the good intentions of the company. There are a large number of initiatives running across the group which are really helping to communicate sustainable tourism to the local communities around them.

There are a number of activities included in the itinerary which helps put money back into the local community such as the local cooking class and market tour in Kuala Lumpur. At the same time you will gain an insight into local cuisine and traditions.
