Description of Saudi Arabia cultural tour
Prepare to be wowed by this desert country. This Saudi Arabia cultural tour crosses through desert to the Red Sea, and then takes you down to the mountains. Youll come across World Heritage Sites, including rock art at Jubbah, rock-cut tombs at Hegra, and Jeddahs historic Old Town.
Highlights include cities like capital Riyadh, Jeddah, the relaxed and historic city by the Red Sea, and Medina, a major pilgrimage site, with a mosque that can hold one million worshippers at once.
Youll head across the centre of the country via road and high-speed rail. There are some long drives on this trip, but youll also be able to relax for two nights at a boutique farm near the abandoned town of AlUla, and spend two nights on the coast.
As well as high rises and sparkling cities, youll visit a womens souk, cultural centres, and the worlds largest camel market, and stay in locally run accommodation where possible. This tour attempts to delve beyond the famous highlights, and focuses on the people who call Saudi Arabia their home.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The mix of places we visited and the super nice atmosphere within our group.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Don't worry that it will be too strict with clothes rules. Scarf was needed in or around mosques only.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
I cannot say.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
The booking procedure and contact with sales before our trip was very confused and tiring. But the trip itself was great!

Planet
How this trip helps protect and conserve local landscapes and nature. By travelling in a small group we tread lightly to minimise our impact on local resources and the environment.
We work with our partners on the ground to proactively reduce waste; this includes eliminating all single-use plastic water bottles by providing refills for re-usable bottles.
The payment of entrance fees to natural reserves and archaeological sites generates income which is used for upkeep and development of these important sites. The trip takes in several UNESCO World Heritage Sites including the Nabatean ruins at Hegra, rock art at Jubbah, Al Ahsa oasis and Jeddahs historic centre.
We visit Ushaiger Heritage Village, one of the oldest settlements in the region which boasts some stunning traditional Najdi architecture.
We rewild 100 square metres per passenger to compensate for all trip and flight emissions.
People
How this trip helps improve life for local communities. Local guides keep you well informed about local traditions and cultural-social sensitivities.
This trip brings income and opportunity to the destination community through the inclusion of locally owned hotels, restaurants, and other enterprises, and by championing locally produced food wherever possible.
In Buraydah we visit the Womens Souq, and the Al Jerredah Souq, which specialise in art and crafts.
In Taif we visit a rose factory where the local people gather roses to make one of the best rose perfumes in the world.
