Sea kayaking holiday in Croatia
Description of Sea kayaking holiday in Croatia
This week long sea kayaking holiday in Croatia starts in the magnificent, ancient city of Dubrovnik, but from day one, in the hands of expert local kayaking guides, takes you out into the country’s unique Mediterranean archipelago, to start exploring the luscious Elaphite Islands. For five days we will kayak in and around the islands of Lopud and Sipan, not too far from the mainland, but another world by kayak. A world of sea caves and secret coves where we have regular stops for swimming and snorkelling, walking through Lopud’s cooling woodland, or the romantic ancient towns on Sipan. And always with time to chill at one of many blissful, sandy beaches.
Staying in small, locally owned guesthouses on both Sipan and Lopud, this sea kayaking holiday is aimed at kayakers with some paddling experience, as we will be kayaking between 15-20km a day. The daily itinerary is breakfast at the guesthouse, out on the water all morning to explore the natural highlights in and around the island. We then stop at a local restaurant for lunch or, if you prefer, pop into local shops to buy picnic supplies. Lunches are not included in the price of the holiday.
After an all important siesta, a stroll or a swim, we kayak again for the rest of the afternoon, heading back to your guesthouse in plenty of time to chill out and freshen up before dinner at a local taverna, all specialising in Croatian food with sea food, local seasonal vegetables and of course plenty of local olive oil. All dietary needs are catered for, and we include three dinners in the price of the holiday.

We all liked being in smaller guest houses run by local people and finding out how they make a living the rest of the year. These were people who love their jobs rather than people who just work for money and that glimpse of their lifestyle was a very special part of the holiday.
