1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
Get to know the local people and their lives of today, plus their dreams for tomorrow.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Besides visiting the impressive monuments, to take time to really “meet” the people.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes indeed, especially helping local economy.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Interesting although a small disappointment as all monuments are new (reconstructed copies of the old ones ) Missed the vibes of the past. A particularly clean and safe country.
Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
We are a responsible company, interested in the changing world around us. It’s very important for our team to keep the environment clean that`s why we clean up not only after ourselves but for others. The best action we can take to respect our environment is to let people know how to behave while walking in the countryside, such as keeping our litter with us, not damaging flowers, respecting wildlife habitats and so on. We ensure our guides are mindful about protecting the environment in which you travel, and they do a fantastic job of promoting having a minimal impact on the environment whilst travelling. To respect our environment, they inform the tourists how to behave while walking in the countryside or visiting ancient Marv, Geghard Monastery, Zvartnots temple, which are protected by UNESCO. They encourage them to avoid littering, tearing or damaging flowers, as well as to respect wildlife habitats and so on.
This is a small group tour, meaning that we have a low impact on the environments and communities we visit and are able to ensure that we do not disrupt or lead to the displacement of local people.
There are plenty of opportunities to experience local cuisine and as you see your lunches will be at the local restaurants, we try to ensure that local foods are cooked using local produce that is in season.
People
We are sure that our tourists will give a huge impact to the local communities while getting acquainted with their daily life. This gives a chance both to the tourist and local people to meet each others cultural differences. We always encourage our tourists to visit local markets, buy souvenirs and local products from local stores. Thus, they can both learn Armenian national customs and traditions and support local craft makers. This itinerary includes visits to bazaars which offer local wine, fresh fruits and vegetables, dried fruit, spices, local snacks, sweet cakes, chill tea, as well as local handicraft. Also you will visit as “Shebeke” handmade frescos’ workshop, “Pakhlava” famous local sweets’ workshop and “Tekulduz” popular weaving workshop.
This is an excellent opportunity for our travellers to support local craftspeople, including traditional wood-and-metalworkers. This tour also supports countless museums, fortresses, archaeological sites and important cultural gems.
Thus, during all our tours in Armenia, we are trying to encourage travellers to approach places they visit with greater understanding and respect.
