Excellent....The spectacular views over Lake Padarn from the cottage. It's ideally ased for lots of varied things to do in the area. We visited the Slate museum (must do), walked around the lake, had a day at the beach on the Llyn and visited a castle Read full review

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

As a self catering accommodation, guests are expected to make their purchases in local shops, eat at local restaurants, visit local attractions, use local sports opportunities etc. Guests are directed to these in the information sent out and available at the cottage, and recommendations are made. There are a number of independent businesses and shops in the village, to which guests are directed. These rely heavily on tourism.

Guests are recommended to visit the local hydro-electricity scheme and are made aware that this is much more interesting than it sounds!

The open fire is fuelled from renewable timber obtained locally - the use of the open fire is promoted, as it saves on electricity. Low energy lighting is used wherever possible. The cottage is fully double glazed in order to reduce heat loss. Guests are asked to compost all vegetable waste. All cleaning materials used in the property are eco-friendly, particularly as drainage is to a septic tank. No chemicals are used in the garden. Paper, cans, recyclable plastic and bottles are collected for recycling.

Birdlife abounds and there is usually a supply of nuts/seeds available in the cottage to fill the feeders. Blue tits nest in the adjacent barn.

People

There are a number of individual shops and restaurants, also sporting activities, in Llanberis and the area, all heavily reliant on tourism and guests are pointed to these. Our recommendations and those of previous guests can be found in the guest book, and we welcome further recommendations.
