South Africa explorer and Mozambique beach holiday
Description of South Africa explorer and Mozambique beach holiday
Climbing to the plateau of Cape Town’s Table Mountain and staying at a winery in the heart of the Winelands. Whale watching in the coastal town of Hermanus and wildlife encounters in the Greater Kruger region. And the grand finale: relaxing on Mozambique’s white-gold beaches. This holiday to South Africa and Mozambique explores Southern Africa’s best bits.
This is mostly a self drive holiday, so you’ll travel using a mix of hire car and short haul flights. Cape Town is the starting line, where the trickiest decisions you have to make are whether to say hi to the penguins at Boulder Beach, visit community projects in the Langa township, or walk the shipwreck trail around Cape Point.
Things get wild as you head north. That way lies Kruger National Park (watch out for elephants, lions, rhinos, hippos, cheetahs and leopards), plus the sand-skimmed coast of Mozambique, where dugongs and whale sharks mooch. This is a tailor made holiday, so everything from the duration to the activities can be tweaked to your liking.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The leopard tracking.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
Get up early in the morning to get the most out of the day.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Most logical of course is the money you spend that goes all kind of different things.
As long as the amount of people is in balance with the nature/landscape. Otherwise there is to much downside and eco-foodprint from all the travellers
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
Fantastic holiday. Well planned.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?
The game viewing at both safari lodges was excellent thanks to the high quality of the Rangers and Trackers. We have been on a number of safaris before but had not had more than fleeting views of leopards. On this trip we were lucky enough to see a large number of individual leopards at close quarters and for extended periods. We also saw packs of African Wild Dogs on 3 separate
occasions, which we had never been privileged to see before. This was all in addition to many sightings of The Big Five often near our safari lodges.
2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?
If you haven't been on safari before be prepared for very early (5.30 a.m.) starts every day but it is well worth it because the animals are really active then. The laundry services are excellent, very speedy and included in the price on safari. This means that you can make do with much less luggage. Be aware that there are a lot of steps to negotiate to access the rooms and the beach at Bahia Mar.
3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, reduced environmental impacts or supported conservation?
Yes. It provided good employment opportunities for local people and both Ulusaba and Bahia Mar supported local community projects.
4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?
A thoroughly enjoyable and exciting experience.
Responsible Travel
Planet
We have put this itinerary together with a focus on ensuring you can experience two of the world's top holiday destinations. The properties are chosen not only because of the brilliant service and style but because they are in line with our ethos of responsible and sustainable travel.South Africa is working hard to ensure a great future for their tourism industry. The conservancies in the Greater Kruger ecosystem operate in a responsible and sustainable way with long term conservation at the heart of every action. We love to work with these private conservancies and reserves, where there are fewer vehicles around, and tourism has a much lower impact on the environment and its wildlife.
In Mozambique, protecting the oceans is a high priority and you will get the chance to get involved in environmental schemes to that are ensuring the marine life and beaches are unspoilt for generations to come.
People
Whilst we are always trying to ensure our guests experience the best properties and destinations possible, our ethos about responsible travel is extremely important to us.We have selected the properties on this itinerary with sustainable and responsible tourism in mind. In the Western Cape you will enjoy the region's food and wine whilst supporting local suppliers and traders. The hotels also make a huge effort to train and employ local staff.
We encourage all our travellers to research local customs and read your trip notes before you depart to ensure you are conscientious and respectful in a different culture. In most cases we strongly recommend that you do not give money to children beggars. If begging is a successful enterprise, parents are encouraged to forsake their children’s education in pursuit of this opportunity.
As a company we are founded in the roots of providing responsible and sustainable holidays. This means we seek to partner with local suppliers who provide fair wages, to use accommodation where community and environment are considered and to look at every opportunity for making our holidays as fair to local people and places as possible.
