Description of Switzerland activity holiday, tailor made

Switzerland’s summits and plunging pine forested valleys are like a huge outdoor adventure playground and provide the perfect setting for an activity holiday, no matter what the time of year. The itinerary below includes a couple of activities but you’re welcome to sign up for more.

Train transfers take you between Lake Lucerne, Interlaken, and the UNESCO terraced vineyards of Lavaux. Small family owned accommodation offers traditional B&B lodgings whilst year round cable cars whisk you up to the start of walking trails, glacial lakes or ski runs.

Either side of summer, you’ll find comfortable temperatures for alpine hiking and mountain biking. Spring is especially pleasing for wild flowers and fast-running rivers – definitely the most exciting time of year for white water rafting.

Autumn is also ideal for getting outdoors with glasses of gluhwein and bowls of fondue warming up mountain walkers after a day spent exploring the 5-Seenweg in the Zermatt Mountains.

Summers in Switzerland allow wild swimming, canyoning and kayaking to take centre stage with rock climbing and paragliding certain to appeal to adventurous adrenaline addicts.

Winter activity holidays in Switzerland are simply superb. Pine forested trails covered in snow conjure cross country skiing and winter walks in Narnia. Dog sledding, glacier walks with crampons, ice skating and sledding also tempt travellers to venture outdoors in the winter with a whole range of activities encouraging holiday makers to try something new on a week away.

From cable car rides to the top of the Matterhorn glacier to chances to learn more about traditional artisan crafts, such as cheese, chocolate and alp horn making, this tailor made tour unveils a side to Switzerland that many larger group tours often fail to see.

Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

Our Switzerland trip is based on public transportation – mainly the train. The good thing about this is that trains in Switzerland are mostly electric which makes them even less harmful to the environment. Beside trains there are plenty of walking tours included in the program. Walking is one of the most environmentally friendly ways of travelling, as well as cycling, which is also one of the options in this program.

Beside the fact that this ways of travelling are friendly to the environment they are also good way to get some exercise, which is very good for our health.
For both walking and cycling tours it’s important to stay hydrated. We advice our travelers to use glass water bottles, which can often be refilled hygienically.

In our office, and for our company operations, we aim to recycle as much as possible. We try to send all our papers via email or internet, in order to minimise the amount of paper we use.
We use energy–efficient light bulbs instead of regular bulbs. Turning the lights and other electrical equipment off is a must when you are not using them.

People

Social responsibility is perceived as a lasting commitment to work together with the environment in which we operate. Supporting and helping our environment is embedded in our long–term growth strategy.

We work with local partners in our destination and use local guides and drivers wherever possible and by this we hope to ensure a very warm welcome to our travellers. All of our employees know what is worth seeing and trying in Switzerland. We support locally-owned businesses and are always trying to find locally owned restaurants with local dishes and delicacies. We encourage our travelers to taste local flavors.

In Zermatt, there are a couple of great fondue restaurants. The village of Zermatt is car - free village and it contains of dark sun – burned wooden houses which helps the travelers feel the spirit of Switzerland.

We encourage community initiatives such as handmade crafts by buying locally produced souvenirs.
