Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

This tour will transport you to an eclectic and culturally significant range of heritage sites and it will also take you to unique places of natural beauty, including part of the Himalayas that are of spectacular beauty. However, the impacts of tourism on Mount Everest have been acutely felt in recent times and we fully endorse the need to help manage and protect this natural wonder. Indeed, all of our tours maintain a great respect for the cultural and natural surroundings in which we visit and travel, and we have opted to use only essential methods of public or private transport for this itinerary.

Activity:
On first three days, we will have enough time to see the most important sights where with rich in historical and cultural in Lhasa. After that, begin our trekking with lower impact on the environments (Namtso lake, rugged valleys, mountainsides, vineyards, towns, etc). Traveling on foot, you will explore beautiful villages in and around Lhasa rom Tsurphu Monastery to Dorje Ling Nunnery in this tour.

Water:
Your own water bottle will be suggested to carry with before your departure from your country. We will provide the drinking water for the participants to refill in on a support vehicle and minimising the need to purchase bottled water.

Waster:
As we all know every camping produces a surplus of waste and hard-to-use biomass that is best kept in the food chain by feeding it to livestock. Before camping and hiking , we will buy from local markets to prepare foods in moderation, such as bread, milk, instant coffee, jam, vegetable, sausage... We will try to eat them all, do not  leaving too much food on camp site.

Office:
It is advocated to recycle paper and ink cartridges to reduce the waste in landfill sites. We turn off printers, computers, battery chargers and transformers at the end of each day and use energy-efficient bulbs and low-energy appliances.

Flora and fauna:
Our local guides will have a set of guidelines for each tour. The flora and fauna (flowers and animals) are in abundance and wide variety in remote villages along this tour. And the weak ecological environments are complex and multiplicity, and they are damageable. we advocate ecological tourism. Footpaths crisscrossed the fields, where the crowing of cocks and the barking of dogs were heard within distance, of course we stick to footpaths. The growing number of visitors is damaging the footpaths. It is necessary to mention this on tour briefing to our clients.

Transport :
We try to seldom use vehicle except necessary on the tour. We actively encourage all customers to take public transport, or rent a bike, or just walk around the small and special Tibet old town in free time. So we could ensure that our transport is as low carbon as possible.

People

Our itinerary has been designed to fully incorporate the rural communities of the regions we visit, especially those in Tibet. We value their unique insights, knowledge, and hospitality, and believe that they too should benefit from tourism too. Wherever possible, we use locally-owned guesthouses, hotels, restaurants, and services to ensure that local communities and business prosper in a highly competitive market.

Travelling with respect:
On this tour, we will visit lots of remote villages. On the basis of many years of joint efforts with them, we have good relationships with local community. For example, we usually visit some small villages and held special activity to promote local culture and customs, do culture exchange, visit locals schools, local families.... All our guests will also get the warmest welcome locally from the Kyrkiz communities when meet locals.

Accommodation and Meals:
We choose all the accommodation carefully, based on their location and their operating systems. Most of them are locally owned such as local homestays which therefore involve local people and their communities. Before the trekking, travellers will buy some goods and materials that suitable for trek from local markets. In this way we could bring economic benefits to local residents. We are supporting employment and conservation efforts within these areas.

Local services:
We use local tour guide and drivers, and pay for them with good reward. Meantime, we empower them with training opportunities every year, especially theguide services training classes which is a must on tour industry.
