Responsible Travel

As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.

Planet

On our Multi-Activity holiday in Guatemala, we take great care in making efforts to preserve the environment and encourage guests to follow our lead.

All our trips include at least one national park visit. National parks provide a safe home for native plants and animals, help preserve trails, provide employment and help educate visitors. We believe that to truly learn how to respect the environment, you need to be in it!

Wildlife: being a vegan company, the protection of wildlife and animal rights within the tourism industry are both extremely important to us. We are very happy to support our local tour operator in Antigua who have policies in place to ensure that the excursions they run do not interfere with the natural behaviour of wild animals or exploit domesticated animals in any way. We’re also in the process of developing further initiatives to educate other local providers about animal rights within the tourism industry.

Waste: We have a strict no single-use plastic policy in place and provide clients with reusable lunch boxes for the duration of the trip in order to reduce waste which will otherwise end up in landfill sites, we also have re-usable silicone bags for our clients to use for snacks and sandwiches, any further waste produced is always recycled. The hotels and lodges we use provide free filtered drinking water eliminate to need for our travellers to ever have to buy plastic bottles of water.

Water & Energy: We encourage clients to be mindful of their use of water and energy throughout the trip by only using housekeeping services when necessary which heavily reduces water and energy usage from laundry services.

Buildings: All hotels, guest houses and lodges we use are chosen for their investment into the local economy, excellent reputation, location, beautiful decor, welcoming service and preserve the cultural heritage of the area.

We provide responsible travel guidelines to all our travellers on how they can help to preserve the environments they are visiting with advice in the online members club before departure and later on arrival to our joining hotel.

People

We work with local operators, tour guides and restaurants who share our commitment to responsible, vegan-friendly travel wherever possible.

Friends, Neighbours & The Local Economy: During the Multi-activity holiday in Guatemala, you will meet local people, stay in hotels, guest houses and lodges staffed and run by local organisations and eat locally sourced plant-based meals. By booking with us you will be directly investing in the local area and its economy. We know exactly where to find and recommend all things local which helps spread the income from tourism to those most in need.

Campaigning For Change & Charity: A big part of what we do is to help promote an environment in which people and animals are not exploited. We do this by working in collaboration with a local not-for-profit organization who help 'at risk' kids and teens learn how to be peaceful leaders through a form of equine therapy called join up. One of the outcomes of their program has shown a heightened awareness of the treatment of the horses within the local community.
