CARBON REDUCTIONIn order to make this trip as carbon-friendly as possible both of the safari camps included - Deteema Springs and Mana River Camp are powered 100% by solar energy. Throughout the trip there are activity options that do not involve vehicles, for example walking safaris are possible in both Hwange National Park from Deteema Springs and at Mana River Camp in Mana Pools. In Mana Pools it is also possible to do wildlife viewing by canoe.
ENVIRONMENT AND WILDLIFE
Both of the safari camps included in this itinerary are of a lightweight semi-permanent that creates very little environmental impact and if they were removed the site would re-wild in a very short space of time. As well as that each camp takes care of its outposts to ensure there is no impact on the surrounding environment, for example at Mana River Camp they have their own bio-plants to manage kitchen, laundry and staff village solids. Both Deteema Springs and Mana River Camp are located in crucial national parks and by visiting these camps you are contributing to the continued maintenance and value of these parks as havens for wildlife.

LOCAL ECONOMYLocal guides and staff are employed at all the accommodations detailed in this itinerary, particularly at the two safari camps Deteema Springs and Mana River Camp. In Victoria Falls there are lots of opportunities for guests to contribute directly to the local economy by visiting local craft markets, food stalls and communities. We believe it is particularly important to drive further benefits of tourism to the surrounding areas of Victoria Falls and not just the main tourist areas and international style hotels. We have a number of more off-the-beaten-track experiences that guests can enjoy to meet local communities who may not have actually ever even seen Victoria Falls themselves, thus spreading the benefit of the tourist dollar to this region further.
EMPLOYMENT, INCLUSIVITY AND DIVERSITY
The operator that runs both Deteema Springs and Mana River Camp is closely involved in the local community for example it helps to fund Hwange Main Camp Primary School, providing more opportunities and better education for local children. They help the school by providing teacher support to educators who are not on the government payroll in addition to building facilities, providing textbooks and more.
