Description of Vietnam and Cambodia 15 day tour, tailor made
This Vietnam and Cambodia tour is a tailor made holiday that takes in both of these extraordinary countries, with eight days in the former and the rest in Cambodia. Working from north to south, your adventure starts in Hanoi, Vietnam’ s ancient capital where you have a couple of days to acclimatise and take in the sights and sounds of this incredible city. Then off to the coast to enjoy some time on traditional junk boat in Bai Tu Long Bay sailing through beautiful rocky, karst limestone waterscapes.
Your first internal flight is down to Danang, which connects you with Hoi An where the famous lantern filled streets and colonial architecture make this a wonderfully atmospheric place to spend a couple of days. Your next internal flight is to Hoi Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, and which lives up to all expectations in terms of its lively, nonstop cosmopolitan scene. Best way to see it is on the back of a Vespa scooter, doing a food tour of the city at night.
In contrast, your next couple of days are all about rural Vietnam, exploring the floating markets and villages of the Mekong Delta, before crossing the border into Cambodia travelling by speedboat no less. Your first stop is Phnom Penh, the capital city, where we recommend a couple of days to take in everything on its doorstep. This is a time of mixed emotions, with visits to tragic sites such as the Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng, both scenes of utter atrocities. Phnom Penh itself brings you back to a thankfully peaceful present, however, with its hectic markets, tuk tuks, superb architecture and culture.
Last but not least, your tour ends with the glorious temples of Angkor Wat, after taking a six hour bus journey to Siem Riep, to see this vast jungle clad empire in all its glory. Not only worth the journey through Cambodia, but worth the journey to South East Asia.
