Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
This tour passes through some very isolated areas, some of which have scarcely been touched by humans, and we are committed to preserving their natural beauty. We make every effort to leave these sites in the same condition as we found them, and our staff has been educated in stringent no-litter regulations, which means we remove all trash to be recycled or properly disposed of in adjacent cities. We help with hotels and guesthouses to develop best practices on environmental problems in collaboration with our local staff. It is recommended that most of these hotels use renewable energy and switch off lights and electrical equipment when not in use.
Our travelers on this trip are not permitted to litter the environment, but are instead encouraged to educate the communities they visit about environmental issues such as waste recycling and water management, which involves treating used water to make it suitable for a specific end-use such as drinking, irrigation, and maintaining river flow.
People
This trip, like many of the others we offer, places a significant emphasis on local culture and ethnic groups. We make every effort to guarantee that the local community benefits from our presence. On this journey, we spend time with a variety of ethnic groups. We work with local tribe elders extensively to ensure that our presence here is warmly welcomed — we believe it is critical to be perceived as guests rather than strangers who have come to merely look. We have the opportunity to spend time with the people and learn about their cultures and traditions.
Where small local shops exist within the villages, we encourage our travelers to buy something, be it drink or a snack, so that we have some economic benefit. We employ local guides from the villages to show us around – not only does this give our travelers a greater insight into traditions but again it helps to put money into the local economy.
