Responsible Travel
As the pioneers of responsible tourism, we've screened this (and every) holiday so that you can travel knowing we've worked to maximise the benefits of your holiday to local people and places, and minimise any negative impacts.
Planet
Yoga, walking and Crafts are based in Western Balkan Mountains – a truly off the beaten track and tourist free area in Bulgaria. During the trip we will visit Nature Park Vitosha Mountain (a mountain massif on the outskirts of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria). We guarantee that the food offered on this trip comes from the nearby gardens rather than travel hundreds of kilometres to reach us. We will try some special home-made traditional dishes prepared from our local hosts.
During our walks we make sure that we leave no littler behind us, following the motto: “Bring a good mood to your walk in the mountains, but make sure bring your litter back out.”
Our trips are guided, we always pick up guides who have a special sense for their environmental impact – the role of our guides is always to spread the ideas of sustainable tourism among the guests and the hosts - it’s a kind of value affirmation. Our guides are also ambassadors of our efforts to protect nature: planting trees and preserving mountain huts, they will tell you more about the company’s 20-year history in protecting Bulgaria's natural and cultural heritage.
People
We run small groups to create more meaningful interactions and minimize impact. Our overnight stays are specially chosen to be typical for the region visited and to support a wide range of small communities, with accommodation primarily in family-run guesthouses and B&Bs, in villages and small towns. By visiting less-known communities, we provide a source of income to people in rural areas and make sure that our money stays local. We can say with pride that through our business we have achieved significant success and have encouraged several communities to support responsible tourism. We estimate that each year we pay about 400.000 Euro to our suppliers in rural Bulgarian regions. Our suppliers there are family-run guesthouses and small hotels, mountain huts, local guides, local transportation companies, etc.Popular similar holidays
